Draught at the brewpub. Pitch black body, with an amazingly creamy, tan head, that leaves a lot of lacing. Aroma of coffee, dark chocolate, roast and also subtle citric hop notes from the background. Tastes of coffee, cocoa beans, chocolate, some dark fruits and also little citric notes. Mothfeel is full, creamy and it finishes smooth, with coffee and chocolate notes. Overall a quaffable Stout that has the typical dark malt notes, but is surprisingly fresh at the same time, because of some subtle citric aromas. But the biggest highlight is this delicious, extremely creamy foam!

On tap at the brewpub in Vienna. Pours a slightly viscous, mostly opaque, black with some very creamy, lacing, tan head. Huge chocolate nose, mocha, coffee, malt, crackers, toast. Flavor is a little weaker, malt, licorice, chocolate, burnt coffee, light smoke. Watery but dry finish.

At the Brewpub. Opaque black beer, good pale cream coloured head. Light ash on the nose (for a good reason). Palate is smooth and dry. The malt starts with a little cream but then turns to horribly burned ash and bitter licorice. Finishes dry with a disgusting burned bitterness. Fuck me! I’ve tasted a lot of over roasted malt in my time but the malt in the beer was bleedin’ incinerated!!!

draught at the brewpub. Cloudy deep brown, beige head. Light-bodied, very roasty with very low sweetness. Shy fruity hints, perhaps through the yeast. Very low carbonation. Not my favourite.

Tap at 1516. It pours opaque black with a thick, creamy light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, toast, coffee grinds, tangerine and a hint of parmesan cheese in the background. The taste is roasted malt, toast, ash, hint of dark fruit, light acidity, creaminess and coffee grinds with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, robust and well-balanced. Another good brew from 1516.
