Cask at the Anchor Inn, Digbeth on 29th December 2015. Dark copper with thin off-white ring-and-film affording lacing bands. Spicy, toffee-caramel aroma. Burnt malt in-mouth with berry fruits. A bitter finish develops. Medium-bodied with a light mouthfeel.

500ml bottle. Clear chestnut colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Nuttily malty aroma, hints of Brazil nut, a touch of dark bread. Taste is dry, slightly grassy hoppy, nuttily malty background, hints of Brazil nut, a touch of dark bread, a waxy touch of reed.

Bottle @ benzai. Clear brown colour with a small surprisingly white head. Smells sweet, malts, hint of caramel, decent. Tastes watery, caramel, malts, sweetish, slightly coffee and roasty. Thin body, soft carbo.

50cl bottle from Westholme Stores, Goring. Dark amber with a tight white head; rich caramel aroma with a hint of smoke; toffee caramel taste with a touch of spice, but a rather thin body; and a strong biscuity malt finish with perhaps a trace of chocolate digestive. Not great.

Cask at Baxter’s Court, JDW - London. Pours murky brown with a creamy beige head. Well toasted malts in the nose with bits of earth and cocoa. Light sweet flavor with lots of bitter earth, charred malts, grain husks. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Gritty finish, abrasively bitter with lots of dirt, burnt malts, mild coffee grounds. Might be the end of the cask. Meh.

Cask @ Banker’s Draft, Bedford. Chocolate brown with vivacious beige head. Smells of chocolate, blueberry, horehound candy and cardboard boxes. Sweet taste with a simple gentle profile. Tastes more like a mild than a brown ale but hey ho, whatever it is I’m quite fond of it.

Cask at the noon under water Watford. Amber colour with a steadfast stodgy off white head. Aroma is bland nutty malt. Flavour is semi sweet nut brown malt with slight ctusp apple. Fairly drinkable. Some nut loaf. Dull and boring.

Bottle 500ml.[ Trade by madmitch76 ]. Clear medium to dark amber colour with a average to large, frothy, good to excellent lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, nutty, caramel, dusty malt, grass - dry grass. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a long duration, malty, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20130405]
