Violet is often associated as the colour of nobility so Partizan drew inspiration from royal and coronation ales from the year 1953. Many turned out to essentially be barley wine-esque for the most part. For an extra touch of royal grandeur, riesling grape juice was added thanks to its infamous association with noble rot, boosting the sugar content and creating a truly luxurious brew.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour with minor head. Aroma is tropical fruits with some slight spicy notes. Flavour is sweet sugary notes with some tropical fruits, mild tart wood as well as some slight yeasty notes.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, deep orangey, dark golden colour, a handful of macropore white bubbles on top. Melow malty and slightly fruity aroma, hints of marzipan, tart-ish, vinous fruity and minimally tangy overtones, a touch of white grapes, white wine and vinegar. Taste is mellow malty and minimally tart, vinous fruity, hints of white grapes, white wine, subtle grape sugar sweetness. Oily to viscous texture, soft palate, soft to flat carbonation. Refreshing fruitiness, but quite insipid character overall.

Bottle 330ml. @ Craft Beer Co - Clerkenwell, 82 Leather Lane, Clerkenwell, Greater London, England EC1N 7TR. [ As Partizan Royal Ale ].Clear medium orange colour with a small, fizzy, virtually none lacing, fully diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, pale malt, white wine, grapes, wood, light hoppy. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light light acidic with a long duration, tart wine - grapes, sweet malt, sweet malt - candy - dried fruit, caramel, wood. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20170122] 7-2-7-3-14

Bottle from the brewery in Bermondsey and drunk at home. Hazy orange amber colour very thin head. Light carbonation. Some decent toffee and some sweet orange citrus fruits. Some drying hop on the finish. I thought decent enough. Some sweetness. Not great depth, but fine.

Tap@Beavertown Extravaganza 2017, London - orange coloured pour with off-white head. Medium sweet malty toasty, caramel, toffee, some dried fruity notes, some spices on the palate, sweet malty finish.

(thanks for sharing!) Sampled draft @ The Beavertown Extravaganza 2017. Day 1. Dark orange. Nose is raw grainy rye, bitter grainy with rotting dark grapes. Oddly boozy, plaster, grape skins, harsh thick grainy rye, alcoholic. Messy, weird but oddly pleasant as well.

Tap. Murky orange color with no head. Aroma is peach, apricots. Taste is peach, dough, quite some wood sugar, lightly tannic. Oily mouthfeel, low carbonation. Nice!

From tap. Pours hazy orange with a small white head. Aroma is mild spiced to herbal. Dry, slight fruity. Sweet impression. Lingering fruity and slight sweet finish.

Level 42 Bottleshare. Light haze on this gold beer, a few white bubbles. Palate is smooth and semi dry, modest carbonation. Sweetish malts. Floral sweetness balanced by a little citric peel and orange. Mild spice. Mild pine. Light semi dry finish. Doesn’t have huge depth but it’s tasty and easy drinking.

Bottle at home. Part is Siren’ s International Project box. Feint floral aroma. Opaque amber. not much of a head, what traces there are has large bubbles. Sweet, gains some bitterness in to the finish, however it’s always somewhat understated. Light bodied. Soft. Long finish, the alcohol makes itself known right at the end. It’s pleasant but I can’t work out if it’s subtle or just lacks something.
