Violet is often associated as the colour of nobility so Partizan drew inspiration from royal and coronation ales from the year 1953. Many turned out to essentially be barley wine-esque for the most part. For an extra touch of royal grandeur, riesling grape juice was added thanks to its infamous association with noble rot, boosting the sugar content and creating a truly luxurious brew.

Bottle shared in London - team effort. Pours clear orange with a slight, foamy white head. Restrained aroma, just some tangry citrus, pale bread, pale wood, straw. Medium sweet flavour with crunchy pale grains, ripening tangerine, orange peel. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Little sticky In the finish with more pale bread, ripening citrus, orange. A little bland overall. Not bad.

Bottle part of the Rainbow Project box, got this via Beer Gonzo webshop, Earlsdon, Coventry consumed at home Thursday 3Rd November 2016 Pours hazy amber with a white head (very slim head) in truth there was barely a pffttt on opening and a touch of sourness, probably intentional having read the description. I have to say the word disappointed springs to mind when reviewing this, a little mustiness, a bit winey sour edge, fruity, sweet, itโs ok, actually letโs not beat about the bush, this is below par. Keg at Casc. It pours hazy rich orange - amber with a medium off-white head. The aroma is rich, sweet, juicy, ripe white grape, stewed orange, doughy malts, wood and candied fruits. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, tangy, fruity, stewed orange, plenty of white grape, touch of sherbet, candied fruits, earth, bitter pine, earth, alcohol hit and spice with a dry, woody finish. Medium - full body and fine, foamy carbonation. Interesting and good depth of flavour. I rather enjoyed this one.

330ml bottle via Honest Brew. Pours a hazed amber with modest white head. Aroma has caramel, light fruit. Lacks a bit of life on the palate, really dumbing down those fruity caramel notes. Some barely detectable Riesling emerges but its alcohol strength is sadly lacking.
