Bottleshare at Leighton’s flat. Thanks to Leighton. Lightly hazy amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and crispy. Dry light malts, mild sweetness. Decent dried fruits and a little tangy lemon. Light dry finish. Interesting. Always good fun trying the Mad Hatter.

Bottle shared at the ’Beers of London’ Tasting MkII, Bespin Cloud City - Hyde Park zone, thanks to our host with the most and a lot of carrots! 11/02/15. Murky orange amber with a decent light beige covering, floaties are evident. Nose is tangy orange, biscuit crumbs, vanilla, light caramel. Taste comprises earthy tones, vanilla, caramel - old creme brulee that’s been sat around a few days, musty. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Touch of infection - seems aged when it isn’t!

Bottle shared at Leightons pad. Many thanks to Leighton for this one. Hazed orange/ golden coloured pour with a fine, white head. Aroma is tart berry lemon, citrus fruit, apricot, light sour. Flavour is composed of sharp, light vinegar, beans on toast, sharp, sour. Palate is light and grainy, sharp and sour. Weird beer.

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours clear deep-orange with a small white head. The nose is toasty, grainy, oat husk, spice, biscuit, rich tea biscuit and sugary white bread. The nose is crisp, toasty, sweet biscuit, mild tartness, orange, tangy tangerine Irn Bru and sherbet..... Light body and moderate carbonation. The aroma is bang on, but it is obvious on the taste that this has picked up an infection.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy dark chestnut brown pour with a creamy beige head, fruit shortcake biscuit aroma, taste has dark fruits a bit tangy, a hint of tea, a bit strange.

Bottle shared at the Gardens - got in a trade with Garrold. Pours hazy orange with a creamy white head. The nose has some lightly tangy citrus fruits, grain. Light sweet flavor with hints of tangy citrus, some tangerine, mellow bread. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Further tang in the finish, nips of lemon. An infection might be taking hold here.

Bottle. Hop Hideout, Sheffield. Hazy, orangey amber. Thin, blotchy, off white head. Light astringency on the nose. Light, dried fruit. Light, sweet malts. The tea in there is noticeable, as is the lactose. Taste is light dry. Some sweetness on the lips. Palate is tannic, light tart, but not harsh. Finishes fruity dry. More of the astringency. Some sweetness mingling in. Interesting concept, pretty well executed. I did enjoy this, although I’m not sure I’d want another.
