Strong pale ale. Grey Trees’ traditional British pale ale is a well balanced beer brewed with Crystal and Marris Otter pale malts, infused with US Chinook, Cascade and Simcoe hops. This imparts both a citrus aroma and citrus taste.

Bottle. Just unclear amber with a white cap. Aroma of light biscuit and citrus. On the dry side with kumquat, oranges and pepper at the modestly bitter end. Refreshing.

500ml bottle – Pours a clear deep amber colour with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma is light malts and citrusy orange notes. A moderately sweet taste, light malts, caramel, citrus and sweet grassy flavours with a hint of orange marmalade and a light bitter finish.

Cask at Smithfield, Derby. Pours a golden brown with a small white head. Nose is a mix of malts and citrus with some nuts thrown in for good measure. Taste is sweet malts and caramel but with hints of both peppers and corn. Finish is sweet but with some underlying bitterness. Quite nice but not a wolrdbeater.

Cask @ Grey Tree's National Tap, Aberdare after a day of throwing myself down a hillside at Bike Park Wales. Clear golden copper appearance, white collar atop. Gently sweet malt nose. Taste presents a medium-bodied, lightly sweet bitter. Oily caramel, floral hints, sweet malt, relatively light bodied. Fine.

Two hand-pulled pints in The Pheasant, Wellington Shropshire as I judged a ’Bun Baking’ contest on 4th March 2017. Clear amber body, soft white head. Slight citrus notes in both the nose and taste, malty and fruity too.

Bottle picked up at Critchowell, Crystal Palace Food & Wine Deli, consumed at Camping Memling Campsite, Friday 17th October 2014. Pours golden, superb clarity with slim wjite head. Really impressed with this, it’s crisp, very hoppy, wonderfully citric, dry, very nice indeed. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8
