On tap at Ebenezers, Crewe – no Brewdog. Pours a bright copper with a small white head and good lacing. There’s marmalade and floral hops in the aroma. In the mouth there are malts and traditional hops, plus some nuts and hints of rye, grains and marmalade. This is reasonable.

Now brewed without 'help' from Brew Dog! Cask, hand-pulled pint in The Boot, Wellington Shropshire on 4th March 2023. The Rye is mainly for the colour rather than for aroma and taste, so it hasn't got that sometimes overpowering 'Rye-ness' a few Rye beers do. This is malty and semi-sweet with a good piney hop bitterness.

Keg at the West End, Leicester as Salopian Red Mist. Dark amber, hazy. A light off-white head floats on top. Earth, musty malt loaf, some sweat, some vinegar in the intense and uncompromising aroma. Sweet taste with fruit notes brightening the malt flavours. Bitter hop comes in for the latter half of the sip, leaving a drier finish. Heavy carbonation. Pretty good if a bit odd.
