Fra fat på Gog & Magog, Plymouth 22 Sep 16. Varm gyldenbrun. Filmskum. Aroma av mørke plommer. Litt sitrus i smaken. Minner om oppvaskvann. Tungdrikkelig og ikke god.

Cask @ Bankers Draft JDW, Sheffield [010916]
Amber, clear, white head. Nose of soft pale fruits, slight apricot. Taste of light sweet caramel, soft fruits, light bitter hops, bit under flavoured for 5%. Medium body, light bitter palate. Finish is soft bitter.
Overall - Easy going, not too bad, average spoons fare.

Half pint, cask, shared with Finn at JDW’s Gog and Magog. Patchy beige head blanketing the glass. Golden-brown body with a slight haze. Brown malty nose with hints of dark fruits. Mixed taste of toffee and dark fruits. Dried fruity endnotes. Rather flat in the mouth. Drinkable, far from great though (Plymouth 22.09.2016).

Cask at the William Robert Loosley (JDW), High Wycombe. Murky amber with a thin but lasting white head. Toffee dominates. Some sweet marmalade, a little lemon and a hint of grass. Mild bitterness. It’s OK but it’s all a little half-hearted. Definitely needs more assertive hopping to bring out the flavours more. Agree with the general sentiment that it should be recategorised as an ESB.

Cask @ Barum Top Inn, Halifax. Tawny golden with a creamy head. Its strength is not too stated, but neither is its taste or flavours. Lightly hoppy in character, with a sessionable style.

Cask at the Pilgrims Progress, Bedford. Amber/copper. Tiny head and a bit of lacing. Grassy caramel scent with a suggestion of red berry. Sweet taste with heavy malt and a hint of sulphur. Heavy on the palate... although this isn’t all that strong I doubt I’ll finish it. Not bad but it isn’t a Session IPA, it’s more like an ESB.

Copper colour with creamy head. Quite a biscuity, malty taste with some bitter orange peel.
