Bottle thanks to Fergus. It pours deep brown with a medium off-white head. The aroma is plastic, burnt tires, cheap chocolate, caramel, dark fruits and malt loaf. The taste is bitter - sweet, ashy, tangy fruits, treacle, charred wood, earth and dull burnt notes. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Pretty weird stuff.

Bottle at home, picked up from tesco. A musty airy nutty brown malts, tangy , sugary. Palate is semi sweet, tangy, highish carbonation. Flavour is composed of, nutty malts, brown, tangy apple, pear. Not as bad as I feared. Little burnt sugars.

Bottle shared in Watford - thanks to Feergus. Pours clear light brown with a frothy, off-white head. Novel aroma, some rotting apples, dark bread. Light sweet flavour, sugary like cider, bitter and a little ashy too. Light bodied with average carbonation. Harsh ashy finish, with faint cocoa, earth, ripe apples. Strange stuff.

500ml bottle, take-out from Birmingham Beer Bash 2015, shared on the train home. A cross between a porter and a cider? What’s not to like? Well.. this beer. Pours black with large bubbly beige head. Thin, sweet chocolate, mild cider influence. Really couldn’t get my head around this.

Bottle from the Vacaville BevMo. Pours brown with a beige/tan head. Somehow malt and cider are suggesting coffee a little bit. Med minus body. Flavor is a bit unusual. Seems a bit metallic. Guess putting "Thomas Hardy" on a label doesn’t make the contents of the bottle great.

50cl bottle from Tesco, Camberley. A deep reddish chestnut pour with a thick cream head; aroma of toffee and apple; soft chocolatey malt taste to start, but then with the apple coming through; and a rather unpleasant metallic sourness developing. A strange concept that nearly works.

Bottle. Aroma dark malts, chocolate, dark caramel and light background apples. Very dark colour. Short lasting head. Taste is... controversial. Probably as good as cider-porter mix can get, but I call BS on this one. I dont like the combination. Rather sour, less sweet and bitter.

Bottle from Steve (BeersIveKnown) - Cheers! [160714]
Dark brown, frothy fluffy beige head, some lacing
Aroma of soft roast, dab of dark malts, getting dab of apple, some fruity dark malt
Taste of soft dark malts, light roast, slight chocolate, touch of berry fruits, slight apple, maybe a little rough but not bad at all
Palate - soft carb, medium body, light sweet, soft bitter roast. Finish as main flavour, slight lingering tail of apple (where it is most noticeable), dab of dry roast, cleans off palate
Overall - Memories of mixing Guinness and Strongbow years ago (which was disgusting) didn’t really put me in the right frame of mind to approach this. I thought the best way to approach it was to just treat it as a stout and forget the cider. It’s not that bad actually, an above average beer - I expect there’s more porter in this than cider

Bottle from Deli Belge, Sowerby Bridge. Dark red with the porter style more dominant, especially in the colour of the ale. The cider is just about evident although it’s more apparent in its effect on the texture than taste. The nose is typically porter with a small sweetness alongside some roasted malt.
