Black Friday in Ft. Worth at the Total Wine provided the opportunity to purchase a 22 oz bottle of Therapist. Out of several beers purchased, this was the only bomber, they continue to disappear. Sign of the times I can only assume. The label indicates bottling on 5/27/20 meaning this bottle needs to be opened and consumed. My ABGB tulip glass is arrayed for this tasting, I lift the cap and make the pour. The liquid is a determined opaque, medium yellow with a fair covering of solidly white foam. A decent scent, I get hay, pine and citrus, no surprises. And the taste, ah, definitely a step forward. Old school west coast aggressive bitterness with lemon, a tangerine sweetness, pine, grain, hops and some pineapple. I like the heartiness of the elevated ABV, lends some depth. Good.

Very clear coloured light amber and copper body with a nice two centimetre tall pure white head. Aroma of honey, strong grassy and citrus-based hops with a lot of herbal notes and a good balance of malt all behind the hops and sweet scents. Medium-bodied; Strong grassy and herbal hop flavours at first that show a lot bitterness from pineapple and resinous hops that shows a lot of fruit-based sugars, all sitting on top of a strong malt backbone that support the bitterness and sweetness. Aftertaste has the bitterness up front with a pungent grassy and very herbal finish and a good hop profile with the pineapple, resin and grapefruit right behind. Overall, a nice and pungent Imperial IPA that shows very well and leaves a lot of bitterness throguhout, but is balanced nicely by the malts and especially the fruit-based sugars on the end. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from BevMo in Vacaville, California on 10-March-2019 for US$7,99 sampled a day later in my hotel room here in Fairfield, California on 11-March-2019.

Bière 65 cl achetée chez Rainbow Grocery à San Francisco. Robe orange clair.

Poured from a bomber dated October 8, 2018. Aroma is hop and ester forward with a light cracker malt backbone and a hint of caramel. Grapefruit, pine resin and hints of tropical fruit with light stone fruit esters. Pours a fairly clear, brilliant, golden orange with a large, fluffy, slightly off-white head that shows nice retention as it slowly recedes to a thick film on the edges. Moderately high lacing and small legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with light to medium light cracker malt notes and a bit of caramel. Strong bitterness, but not over the top. Moderate grapefruit and pine notes with hints of tropical fruit and stone fruit. Light alcohol notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent west coast IPA with hints of east coast yeast esters.

Bottled 2/22, drunk 8/3/18.
Clear, rose-peach. White head to ring.
C-hop heavy showing tons of orange variations but a good base malt behind it. Soapy and spicy on the end with no alcohol by this point and lots of marmalade lingering alongside light honey and hints of caramel.
In the mouth it's VERY soapy and astringent. Damn is that soapy...Good texture, soft and malty with engaging carbonation and good attenuation. This is clearly older than ideal, but even giving it a little leeway there, doesn't explain the burning soap character. Just too much alcohol here. Gratuitous.
