(Draught at Craft Beer Co Clerkenwell, London, 23 Nov 2016) Black colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, chocolate, vanilla, oak wood and some bourbon. Malty, roasted taste with notes of coffee, dark chocolate, liquorice, vanilla, hints of coconut, oak wood, bourbon and a generous coffee bitterness. Almost full body, soft and velvety mouthfeel. A certain sweetness. Very tasty and quite well balanced for its strength. Very nice.

Level 42 Bottleshare and no Mark King in sight. Thanks to Danny for another of these elusive BA WBs! Almost clear deep brown beer, tidy pale tan head. Palate is smooth, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Rich dark malts, mild dark chocolate. Mild spice into fruity bourbon and dark fruits. Mellow coffee. Tangy dark fruit finish. Spicy linger, Nice.

Bottle shared in London - thanks to Danny. Pours black-brown with a frothy, tan head. Dry torched wood in the nose, baking cocoa, light grass. Medium to big sweet flavour with rich, velvety chocolate, scorched earth, baking cocoa, leather. Full bodied, oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with more gooey chocolate, booze, woody dryness, dried fruits. Excellent.

Bottle, big thanks to Dirty D. It pours jet black with a decent tan headline. The aroma is rich roasted malt, dark chocolate, toffee, honeycomb, vanilla, light menthol and wood. The taste is smooth, roasted malt, cocoa, dark chocolate, tobacco, earthy, wood, some alcohol boost, warming, burnt toffee and leather with a dry, toasty finish. Full body and moderate, foamy carbonation. All comes together well. Nice.
