Can shared in Hackney with Seth - picked up at the Bottle Shop (RIP). Pours lightly hazy orange with a creamy, off-white head. Lovely depth, some punchy alcohol, bits of ripe citrus fruits, moderate pine. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Warming finish, with more jammy citrus, pine needles. Delicious.

Pint can pours with a clear copper body that supports a nice full light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up prunes, figs, a bit of pine hop nuanced caramel and then a modest booziness. The taste delivers smooth brown sugar stewed plums and figs drizzled generously with caramel. Nice. To midway there's a play that surfaces between pine, floral and citrus hoppiness that helps balance out the experience. Nice sipper that holds onto just enough brightness to keep it interesting. More cellar time may not enhance the experience much.

Can from 7,000 Jars of Beer, Kingston. Floral and grassy aroma with a hint of booze -- I then picks up nuts, especially almonds. A haze to the amber colour. Thick foamy off-white head. Medium bitter which has some sweetness on the periphery. This syrupy sweetness then comes to the fore into the boozy finish. Marmalade. Medium bodied. Stick. Average-fizzy carbonation. Long astringent finish. The booze results in a satisfying burning sensation on my chipped lips. This is all in - bitter-sweet, gets the blood flowing. My head is starting to feel less catarrhy but do feel like I may get a headache after only a small amount (and that's not a slight).

Can. Almost clear amber beer, good size cream colour head. Airy palate, fairly dry, decent fine carbonation. Light malts, perhaps a little too light. Caramel and a trace of toffee. A light fruity brandy undertone. Spice. Ripe dried fruits on the back end and a little emerging citrus. Light dry spicy finish. Nice now and I think it will age reasonably well. Richer malts would have elevated this for me, but it is a grower.

440ml can, only one year old. Pours an orange amber colour with a light haze, big frothy off-white head. Aroma is very sweet, orange, marmalade, toffee and alcohol. Taste follows the aroma, sweet, orange, marmalade, toffee, caramel, candied citrus, still got a bit of a hoppy bite to it, certainly boozy too with a nice warmth but less than I imagined it would be at 12.4%. Medium-full bodied, soft carbonation. This is a class BW.

50 cl can @ Lapakisto. Aroma is heavy with tropical fruits and alcohol. Flavour has alcohol, fruits and caramel. Alcohol is very evident but it kind of fits here. Good.

Keg at BD Shep's Boost. It pours hazy deep orangey amber with a medium white head. The aroma is rich, oily, orangey, varnish, wood, toffee, boozy sultana, fruit cake, light spice, doughy bread, bread & butter pudding, cakey and intoxicating heady booze. The taste is slick, sweet, chewy, toothy, boozy warmth, bread, cakey malts, varnish, bit of spice, mild astringency, wood, dried fruits, rawness, spicy action, tannin, leather and toffee with a weather warming finish. Fulsome body, fine carbonation and chewy mouth - feel. Fun, but pretty raw and hot. Not bad.
