Bottle shared in Hackney - many thanks to Scopey. Pours clear with little color and a few bubbles on top. The nose holds well ripened pears, mild herbal notes, biscuits. Medium sweet flavour with oily, ripe pear, a touch of acidity, mild dryness. Medium bodied, soft. Lightly warming finish, with mild sweetness, nips of lemon, a touch of mustiness. Good stuff.

The taste is slick, oily, pear drops, nice tart element to it, floral, elderflower, lemon rind and white grape with a dry finish. Medium body, flat and oily mouth - feel. Decent.

375ml screw-top bottle from Appellation Wines, Dalry Road. Pours clear still pale yellow. Aromas of sweet apple and pear. Taste has a funky note, but then a sweet pear vibe takes over. Judging from the ingredients it looks like they’ve back-sweetened this, which is a shame. I’d like to have tried it in its funkier form.

RE-RATE 375ml bottle 5.0%, from Olivers. Pours very pale straw, clear. Light and a litlte oily on the palate, white wine like in feel with a light perry sweetness. Very good. 75cl bottle from Oliver’s Farm shop. Marketed as ’champagne perry’ but just seems like a normal sweet perry to me. That said, it is a good one.. fruity, juicy and great with a desert.
