Anniversary Triple IPA. Big Mother has been our Anniversary Ale since inception so it is near and dear to our hearts. An ever changing recipe with each vintage, it’s still everything you expect from a IIIPA: Big, but not too boozy, massively hopped, and just enough malt character to balance the higher alcohol and lingering bitterness. A whirlpool and dry hop assault lends aromas and flavors of apricot, navel oranges, red grapefruit, and papaya. Availability - May/June. This product is Vegan.

Bomber from Capitol Beer in Sacramento, CA. Pours dark gold with a slight foamy whitish head. Aroma of sweet caramel and a large load of mixed exotic fruits. Med + body. Flavor is strongly hoppy - fruity hoppy - with some sweetness. It doesn’t seem dank, but there’s so much hop it should be. Grape seems prominent. Heat doesn’t seem an issue. I could continue to go in circles on this, but, heck, time to start drinking seriously.

Bomber from Olive Tree Market. Pouring the bomber results in a huge aroma of mangoes and papaya, very fruity. Lightly hazy orange with a big off white head. Flavor is lightly bitter, lightly sweet with lots of tropical fruitiness.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is big and malty, with loads of citrus hops, maybe even more caramel malts to back and a bit of residual sugars. Flavour makes it seem like more a barley wine / imperial IPA hybrid, bringing out loads of caramel malts, a big resinous hop profile, and some residual sugars, but actually less than you might think given my description. Finishes both hoppy, slightly sweet and quite boozy. The more this warms and the more your palate grows accustomed to the flavours, the more hoppy than malty it seems. If you look at this as a super hoppy barley wine, this is actually quite good. It's just that I wanted a IIIPA and I got this. Regardless of style, this is very good.

Nice slightly hazy amber coloured body with a hint of an orange and bronze glow and a thick, three centimetre tall just off-white head. Aroma of pungent piney and resinous hops, some alcohol, bunches of fruity sugars and a strong metallic and earthy bite. Full-bodied; Syrupy sweetness with a huge punch of alcohol, malt, apricot and peaches, hop bitterness, but really thick and not especially easy to drink. Aftertaste almost hits like a barley wine with a deep sweetness, syrupy thickness and a strong finish - almost all hops, alcohol and syrup. Overall, a strong Imperial IPA with almost too much body and sweetness. With such a big beer, this one really shouldn’t be in such a big bottle - twelve ounces at most! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Olive Tree Market Place in San Diego, California on 07-June-2013 for US$8.99 sampled at home in Washington on 28-July-2013.

22oz bomber pours with a fairly clear copper body that exhibits a slight haziness and supports a thin off white head. The aroma offers up modest levels of resiny pine hops and sweet citrus hard candy as well as faint malts and earthy hoppiness. The taste is pretty smooth for the style and leans toward an American style barleywine. I get malt sweetness and firm pine hop flavor mixing with malt sweetened citrus hops. There are lots of hops but mostly flavor hops or malt sweet and smoothed bitter hops. This is pretty clean and non cloying for what this is and the big ABV is well hidden. Nice sipper.

Bottle. Pours hazy orange amber with a small off-white orangish head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is surprisingly faint, with notes of caramel, pine and citrus. Flavor starts similar, but has a lot more going on, with rich notes of grapefruit, pine resin, caramel. Medium sweet, medium plus bitter. Medium body, rich oily mouthfeel. Quite a good beer, just wish it had more nose.

On tap at the source. Pours with a lightly hazed orange hue with a small, off-white head. Aromas are pretty great; nelson hops. Some perceived sweetness from the tropical fruit notes, light dank and pungent, medium citrus. Some dextrin malt character. Flavors are of citrus, papaya, passion fruit, medium alcohol, light citrus. Medium dry (could possibly be a touch drier). Lively, somewhat dry, warming. Great stuff.
