A malt body of pale Maris Otter kicked off with oak smoked wheat. Citra hops in the aroma mingle with the smoked malt to create peach in the aroma and flavour. A full velvety body develops into a soft marmalade bitterness helped along by a shot of coriander.

At a tasting, many thanks Hippoman, small stable creamy head, light hazy slightly intense yllow color, light mellow smokey aroma with some wood and some maltiness in the back, smokey woody almost charred flavor with a bready maltiness, light pleasant bitterness and a sweet and sour fruitiness coming through later and especially in the aftertaste. Balanced, drinkable and really nice.

500ml bottle from the Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. Golden colour with a white foam head leaving lacing and mellow fruity citrus aroma. Taste is smoked, meaty bacon, with pale malt and some fruity floral citrus hoppy notes. Light bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry tangy light bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Nose is oily, fish guts yeast, very oily, smoke is all weird here, heavy on esters,…. Taste is oily, watery, weirdly bitter, smoke is weird & oily here, honey, banana,… Weird & oily. Odd & not really to my liking.

Bottle. Curious Hop, Otley. Clear, bright gold. Messy, lasting, white head. Light, savoury smoke. Bit of a charred fruitiness. Barbecued banana, or some such. Taste is soft, smoky dry. Light, fruity bitter. Some sweetness on the lips. Easy, soft mouthfeel. Finishes fairly punchy bitter. Not entirely sure what this beer is intended to be, but whatever, I quite liked it. Ratebeer’s first smoked IPA?
