Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from 'Bierhalle Deconinck', bottled in February 2017. Pitch black with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty, slightly smoky aroma of dark chocolate, licorice, coffee and some peat. Quite sweet, malty, smoky taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, iodine and some green apples, followed by a medium long, moderately roasty-bitter, rather smoky and slightly boozy finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and a bit effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Okay.

Bottled 330ml (Etre-Gourmet)
Opaque colour, small steady creamy brownish head, lace. Cocoa, peat, smoke, alcohol in the nose. Full-bodied. Sweetish front, then cocoa, roasted malts, peat, wood in the flavour. Nicely warming. Well in balance, well-done barreling. Seems that it is much better bottle than some raters had in the spring.

Bottle from Beer Gonzo. Pours jet black, with tan head. Aroma is rich dark malts, peat, whisky & booze. On the taste there is huge peaty whisky booze dominating rich deep malts & dark fruits. Sweet boozy finish. Medium body. Too much barrel & far too boozy. Might benefit from more time in the bottle

330ml can from Chez Sophie. Pours dark, small tan head. Good aroma with meaty dark malts and a nice barrel-aged sweetness. Taste is complex with well-integrated Girvan barrel-aging producing a deeply intense sweetness with liquorice, caramel, nuts and a mellow peated element all vying for your attention. Not overpowering, nicely balanced. Another good BA stout from Kees.

Bottle shared by Joes. Opaque pitch black color, average sized beige to light brown colored head. Aroma is malts, quite heavily peated, some liquor. Taste malts, dark malts, liquor, peat, lightly alcohol, moderately bitter. Medium body, medium carbonation. Solid but a bit too much peat for me to really like it.

On tap. Pours black with full head. Strong aromas and initial flavors of medicinal alcohol and watery scotch cover dark chocolate and roasted malts. Letting it sit a bit clears the scotch wave.
