Clear golden colour, white creamy foam. Nose of sweet malts, banana, malty notes, some spices. Taste is rather weak, some sweet hints, a bit citrussy and alcoholic. Not very complex.

330ml bottle. Minimally cloudy, orangey golden colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Mellow malty, yeasty fruity and slightly fruity hoppy aroma, notes of yellow stone fruit, apricot, mirabelle, hints of peach, some mandarine, pale malty background with a touch of brioche. Taste is sweet, slightly biscuity, pale malty, yeasty fruity, notes of apricot, mirabelle, hints of peach, bitter hoppy counterpart, a peppery yeasty spicy touch of white pepper. Oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, prickly carbonation. Well hopped, very nice fruitiness - pretty decent.

31/XII/19 - 75cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ Ardennes holiday, BB: n/a - (2019-2233)

Clear blond beer, nice creamy off-white head, little stable, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: malty, grains, lots of ripe banana, fruity, alcohol, sugary impression. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet, ripe banana, bitter touch, very yeasty, spicy notes, alcohol, more banana peel. Aftertaste: more banana, sweet and malty, yeast, more malts, soft bitterness, pretty boring. Good thing I had a lot of food with this, so I just drank it cause I was thirsty.

29th July 2019, monthly share at Chez Sophie in Shrewsbury. Cheers Mat for this offering. 750ml cork and caged bottle, clear gold in colour, white top. Light malty sweetness throughout with a mild bitterness trying to burst through, some yeast traces also. More like a tripel than a quad in my eyes, nose and taste buds, nice though.

75cl bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie July 19, brought by me. Pours a generally clear gold, good pillowy white head. Aroma has distinctly tripel esters, light sweet character, cereal grains.. expected a dark quadrupel beer, but it's definitely in the tripel camp for style. smooth, gentle sweetness runs throughout, a touch creamy. Not bad.

New beer from this still very young but classically conceived Walloon microbrewery, 75 cl bottle with cork and muselet, bought at Lokerse Drankencentrale. Thick and foamy, snow white, very thickly plastery lacing, even-bubbled head over an initially clear, pure ‘metallic’ golden beer with strong visible sparkling, turning into a misty ‘old gold’ with sediment added in the end. Aroma of banana-flavoured bubblegum, soapy coriander seed, cream, candyfloss, ‘wentelteefjes’, powder sugar, honey, freshly cut grass, baking powder, old potatoes, fried apples, white bread. Sweetish onset, strong banana ester prevalence with side notes of red apple and pineapple, very lively carbonated; slick but full mouthfeel, sweet cereally malt body with lingering bubblegummy effects and a honeyish touch of residual sugar, leading to a warming finish with lots of ‘jenever’-like alcohol, lingering banana ester, soapy coriander, subtle grassy hop bitterness and a touch of (luckily very faint) retronasal DMS. In the mouth, an earthy and bready yeastiness stays behind in the end. Your classic bubblegummy-estery, coriandered, sweet and boozy Belgian tripel – so nothing more than a stronger version of the Dominicains Triple they already had. It is absurd to try and refer to this as a “blond quadrupel” – equally absurd as that blonde stout thing we had on a more international level a while ago, this is not a quadrupel, period. If anything, another point off for promising me a quad and delivering a tripel…
