Bottle from Beerdome. Black Damnation XXVIII. Aroma is liquorice, boozy brandy, oak, dark malt, fruity notes, red grape. Moderate to medium sweet, some booze. Above medium body. Nice.

30.12.2024, 0,75l bottle @ home:
No head, just some brown bubbles, deep dark pour. Aroma is slightly dry boozy, raw salty licorice, tar, alcohol, soil, dark malts, old rope, dark sugar. Taste is slightly dry sour-ish boozy, raw licorice, booze, dark malts, tar, minerals, bark, oak, old rope, soil. Medium bitterness, no carbonation, dry sour-ish boozy mouthfeel. Fair enough.

Bottle picked up at DrankGigant.NL online webshop, had this sat outside Friday 23rd June 2023 listening to Glastonbury coverage on 6Music, we had a Prawn Curry with Rice tonight. Pours dark brown edging towards black, with a dark beiege head. Quite smoothish at first however very roasty, coffee, dark chocolate. Wouldn't necessarily have realised that this is a cognac barrel aged beer, it is subtle. Now picking up a little liquorice, a touch tart, it is good but not amazing.

330mL bottle, pours black with a small brown head. Nose is full of the cognac barrels upfront, with some dark fruits and burnt brown sugar. Flavour is full-on, with intense cognac barrels that complement a rich dark fruity maltiness and low-to-moderate brown sugar. The fruitiness is rather tart -- it must just be the cognac barrels. Very unlike anything you see in North America, but undeniably well-done. The palate is slightly thin for such a high ABV stout and the tartness detracts a bit for me. Really nice expression of the cognac, though this isn't really what I hope for in the style.

Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth palate, with decent fine carbonation emerging late. Smooth dark malts, a pleasing light creamy sweetness sits well with soft coffee, very mild chocolate and some savoury barrel. Finishes soft with a charming fruity but mellow cognac. Very nice. More of these Black Damnations in small affordable bottles please!

330 ml bottle. Pours black with short tan head. Aromas of ink, oaky booze and licorice. Flavours follow same with light vinous notes and lots of licorice. Belgian Stout? Ok…
