A higher gravity seasonal version of the year-round Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. It’s made with Westmalle Trappist yeast that creates those curious phenolic off-flavors that are freakin’ everyone out these days. Massively dosed with boatloads of wheat and pale malt and finishes with a big, hoppy ending.

Bottle to a teku showing light amber and moderate filtration with sparse white foam. The nose shows a mix of mango with hints of bananas and intermittent sweet bread/yeast notes. The palate is full bodied with even carbonation but not a lot on the palate. A slight bitterness at the end reminiscent of a lager and sharp notes of an IPA. Spicy notes at the end on the palate but in terms of the first impression, there isn’t a lot going on here.

Completely clear peach and light copper coloured body with a thin, single centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pure brett, light wheat, grain, alcohol, vinegar and a good fresh herb scent - nice and pungent. Medium-bodied; Effervescent quality up front with a potent yeast kick with the brett very noticeable and a pungent bitterness from herbs and grass also at the end. Aftertaste shows a big alcohol kick (more than I expected) and a big fresh malt and hop character with more brett and yeast notes than anything else, but in a good way. Overall, a very well-crafted beer with tons of character, but perhaps a touch too deep and bitter, along with a nice brett and yeast flavour throughout. I sampled this stubby twelve ounce bottle purchased from Lebanese Taverna Market in Arlington, Virginia on 07-January-2015 sampled at home in Washington on 01-February-2015 - Thanks Kev!

Not at all what I expected, completely blew my mind. Belgian yeast at the front in the aroma and taste, nice silky body with small soapy head. Nice sharp yeasty finish.

Bottle poured to snifter. Light copper/gold, big foamy head. "Curious malt foundation" in the commercial description is right. Flavor is curious. Sweet and Belgian yeastiness. Lacked any kick strong ABV kick. Nice, but just okay.

Draught. Rich yellow with almost non-existent white foamy head, honey like aroma, medium carbonation, lavender flavor with sweetish taste, medium finish, strong lavender aftertaste. Very very interesting brew!

Bottle. Sweet malty, earthy citrus hops, and Belgian yeast aroma. Clear brassy gold with a large white head. Musty grassy citrus hops, Belgian yeast, citrus peel, and sweet malty flavor. Medium body, moderate carbonation.

12 oz bottle. Pours amber with light head. Aromas of malts, bread/sourdough, oranges and a bit of funk. Flavors of pine, orange marmalade and toasted malts with floral/herbal notes. Biscuity bitter finish.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance has a golden amber/maybe closer to a yellow colored body, one finger white foamy head that dissipates and leaves a nice spider web speckled faded looking lacing, light carbonation is seen rising.
The smell is slightly sour and/or tart mango/lemon fruitiness up front, hops showing some pizazz.
The taste is basically the same adding a bitterness from the hops that seem to be showing a bit more, lemony aftertaste, quick dry finish.
The palate sits light on the body, pretty sessionable (perhaps poundable to some). Carbonation is somewhat sharp which is good for the style and I say good to me.
Overall, I say this is a good Belgian IPA by style that I would have again. Kudos to Lagunitas for a style that I don’t normally go after too much.
