A higher gravity seasonal version of the year-round Little Sumpin’ Sumpin’ Ale. It’s made with Westmalle Trappist yeast that creates those curious phenolic off-flavors that are freakin’ everyone out these days. Massively dosed with boatloads of wheat and pale malt and finishes with a big, hoppy ending.

Boulevard tulip glass draft at The Belfry in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is mostly clear golden with no head, this was a VERY full pour. The aroma is soft hay, honey hop sweetness and a decent blast of floral Belgian yeast. The taste is mostly about the floral spicy Belgian yeast, though honey sweetness breaks through significantly as the beer warms. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation and a sticky sweet aftertaste. Didn’t totally work for me.

12 oz. bottle. Mostly clear gold with an orange hue, lasting head in the snifter. Aromas of fruity yeast, citrus and wheat. Flavors are much the same, citrus hops up front with caramel malt holding down the base of the beer. Some moderate bitterness that I can only call citrus pith. The Belgian yeast the brewer speaks of is very subdued. Lots of fruit and plenty of bitterness. I need to take a trip the the west coast and drink some of these fresh from the source, it seems like this brew is just missing something. It doesn’t remind me of a Belgian strong ale at all. Good but nothing about it makes me want to drink it again.

Gold Color, Medium Foamy Head, Decent Lacing. Nice Fruity, Grapefruit, Pine, Hop Aroma. Sweet Malt, Pine, Grapefruit, Modest Bitter Sweet Finish. Did Not Get Any OF Belgian Yeast. More Like IPA or West Coast Pale Ale... Really Smooth Drinker. Hides High ABV Real Well. Enjoyed It. Recommended

Purchased at my local Vas Foremost in Chicago, IL; enjoyed at home after doing some song writing while having NFL Football on in the background. Appearance is a bright, slightly clear gold with a moderate white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is rich in spice, Belgian ale yeast, light bready malt, light sweetness, very nice. Taste goes down easy for a sub 9% brew, smooth consistency, light spice in the back, bit of lemon as well. Good stuff.

Tap at the Hopleaf, Chicago. Poured a hazy medium amber with a frothy white head and lots of broken lace. The aroma is malt and Belgian yeast. The flavour is medium bitter with a malty yeast slightly liqourice palate with a short bitter finish. Needs more life and more flavour. It’s an American Leffe Blonde but not as good.

På fat. Smak och doft av humle, malt, jäst, röda bär, äpple, hostmedicin. Syrlig, frisk, vinös med tydlig beska med smak av grapefrukt och tall. En aning ojämn.

Bottle from Harvest Market Pours a fairly clear light golden color with a huge fluffy bone white head that persists forever. Smells of lemon and spice with a bit of pepper, grass, hay, and earth. Light bready wheat malt pulls it altogether. The flavor is quite resinous with grass hay citrus and pine. Light pepper and yeasty phenols with a hint of light sugar. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick resinous almost chalky mouthfeel. Meh. too many contrasting flavors for my palette. The yeasty phenols and the resinous hop treatment are left unchecked by too light of a malty base. This didn’t work for me.
