A light modern ale with floral aromas and a sweet gooseberry finish on the nose and palate. About this bottle: This modern hopped beer is brewed with Maris Otter, barley and Crystal Malts and Styrian Goldings hops. It’s full of sweet floral aromas, perfectly balanced by a bitter sweet finish.

50cl bottle from M&S, Camberley. Golden amber with a fast fading white head leaving a rather flat look; earthy malt aroma; malty taste to start with some earthy hops and a citrusy finish. This doesn’t really show off the hops.

Bottle at home picked up from Oxford street M&S. Aroma holds, berry, jammy fruits, orange marmelade on toast, sweet berries. Mid / light amber coloured pour ith a thin lasting white head. Flavour is composed of toasted bread, little nutty, spicy orange rind, berry, little wood bark, spicy. Light english yeast character. Palate is semi-sweet, moderate carbonation, little chewy. Nice beer. Good to showcase this classic hop.

Bottle from M&S Moorgate. Clear gold lasting off white head. White pepper aroma. Flavour of some nettle some sweetness from the malts. I liked it. A little biscuit. But those hops are good. Subtle but they are there and insistent. Decent beer.

Clear bronze. Messy, lasting, white head. Lightly spicy, floral hop. Some leaf tea, and a caramel tinged, nutty fruitiness. Taste is soft sweet, and spicy bitter. Smooth, decently full body. Sticky lippage. Some crisp bitterness on the finish. Nicely drinkable amber.

Bottle at home in London with Chuck - picked up at the M&S on Oxford Street. Pours clear gold with a creamy white head. The nose has some simple, faintly toasted bready malts, hints of orange rind, melon. Medium sweet flavor with sugary bread, some grain husk, ripe orange, more melon, citrusy candies. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more sugary malts, candy, mellow dough, a bit of bitter tea, grains, ripening berries. Very simplistic. Not bad, but I would expect a bit more finesse from Oakham.
