Reddish dark brown. Caramel sour aroma, cherries. Flavor is woody, earthy, complex, forest smells distilled into delicious beer. Hammer sour, give me more.

Bottled 18/02/16. Quite interesting. Not as sour by far as expected. Sweet raisins from the pannepot, tons of wood, tannins from the wine. Sweet, fruity, vinous and deep. Complex, but maybe was on barrels a bit too long, seems a tad dusty?

2009 bottle bought from the Struise School with Fin and Loz. Some liquorice, some sourness, some balsamic vinegar, Fairly easy drinking. A mix of Pannepot Reserva liquorice and dark fruits with some Flemish red cherry flavour. Perfect mix of sweetness and sourness. I thought this was lovely to be honest. I know I have a bias towards Struise old school beers but this one is downright gorgeous. Fortunately I have a couple more bottles in the garage. 4.xx something. 2018 advent calendar rating.

2009 vintage bottled in 2016, given to DSG by JoeT's wife and then given to DSG by me. Thanks! Shared with Nelson on 10/5/18.
Pours a concord grape juice color, with light haze and most sediment left behind. Off-white head fades steadily to a ring.
Fruity and malty with barrel tannin, acidity and tons of various fruity esters. No big alcohol nor any real oxidation. Basically the ultimate BSA. Everything you want ester and phenol wise and nothing you don't. No clove, heavy pepper, wax, bread, bubble gum, banana...etc...etc...just malt, fruity esters, light phenols and light mineral.
In the mouth it's soft, with fuzzy, tight carbonation, good attenuation and lovely yeast-driven acidity that balances the rich maltiness while strong attenuation leaves it dry, but not too much so, on the finish. Fruity and even, with hints of wine, raisin, chocolate and honey. About as good as it gets for a Belgian Strong Ale. So much flavor and balance and using no wild yeast or bacteria at all to achieve it. So clean, free of alcohol....etc...the list goes on. Ya, these guys know what they're doing when it comes to classic Belgian beers.

Like most things, they have to rest a bit to get in balance. Great!

Many thanks to Kappldav123 for sharing! Aardnon 2009 - Bottled on 18/02/2016. Fantastic smooth sourish beginning. Red fruits, dark intense malts, nice sessionable. The body is deep, fruity with red sourish character, deep with no booze. Wood in the back, fruity sourness with a malty deep aftertaste. Very interesting!
