Bottle shared at De Heeren van Liedekercke. Pours hazy dark golden with a white head. Aroma of tart indistinct fruit, vinegar, and light funk. Flavour is heavy acidic. Tart and citrusy in the palate. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Overall, certainly does not improve on the sum of it’s parts. NOTE on July 2014 - Drink in price has now risen to €60!

27/II/14 - 75cl bottle @ DHVL - bottled: 7/I/11 (2014-219)
Note: I waited a bit too long to visit again apparently, because price is now €35, not €25 like mcberko paid for it.
Clear orange beer, very creamy smooth off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: blueberries, very fruity, orange peel, bit lemony, peaches, apricots, funky touch, bretta notes, bit woody, spicy. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: fruity start, peaches, apricots, pretty sour, lemony, citric, sourness mellows out though, turns even a little sweet, wood notes present. Aftertaste: citric acidity, lemony, little bitter, lemon peel, bit grassy, sourness burns a bit in the throat.

750mL bottle at DHVL, thankfully for the more reasonable price of 25€, pours a hazy bright orange with a medium off-white head. Aroma brings out perhaps more of the traditional 3 Fonteinen gueuze, with barnyard funk -- really inviting as always. Flavour brings out more of a mix of the two, with the signature 3F funk, followed by some medium tartness and acidity from the Cantillon component. Finishes on a low-to-medium funk note (for a gueuze), ending with medium acidity. Nothing really overly special about this, but it's certainly well made and very enjoyable.

Bottle thanks to generous friends! It pours cloudy amber with a medium bubbly white head. The nose is sharply tart, earth, sour apple, mild malt vinegar, vomit, strong ambergris aspect and some light stone fruit. The taste is initially big on the tartness, earth, wood, acidic, light vomit, apricot, dank, mouldy wood and some lemon with a dry, tart finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. 3F lambic dominates methinks. Interesting for sure, but doesn’t really do it for me - fairly acidic and musty.

Not a big fan of the people behind DHL abusing Jean & Armand’s reputations and names in order to attach them to a beer with which they do not wish to be associated. This is an issue loose from the price… Big THX to Travlr for giving me a ride. 07/02/2013 bottle. Had this @ tour de geuze when they were selling it for 25 euro which seems fair enough to me. Got a 33 cl. glass. Pours a murky orange with a creamy, wonderfully lacing white head, 3F appearance. 3F dominates throughout the beer, 50/50 is prob. not the ideal ratio for as I have noticed before in blends 3F tends to take the front seat. Nose is musty, 3F vintage funk, strong 3F cellar, only beginning earthly notes bound to become more apparent with age, lovely 3F funk, lightly fruity,… Taste is sweet mellow 3F funk, barnyard, musty, lightly fruity and earthly, very delicious, the finish is far more acidic, maybe some Cantillon coming through but that may be more because I know what is in it, sour lemony, horseblanket in the end, funk, nicely taste,… Full creamy body. Jean van Roy did great work here regardless of what people did afterwards… Still even at 200 this is bound to sell for a lot of people their cellars etc.

Bottle sample at DHL in the company of kraddel, thank you sir. Cloudy pale yellow color, thick white head with good retention and solid lacing. Aroma is subtle dusty apricot. Taste is softly sour lemon, grapefruit, with a tart/acidic finish.

Drank at heeren van liedekercke . Pours hazy blonde / orange . White foam . Smell is funky , not intence Taste : 3 fonteinen definetly has the upperhand in this one . Also applesour . A more complex hint to it , but no real cantillon . Its ok , but WTF is going on , asking 125 euros for a geuze ? Even 200 to take out .. Feels like ripoff .. Id say its good , but not nearly worth that much ..
