Scotch Ale / Wee Heavy Regular
Score
6.89
ABV: 7.5% IBU: 17 Ticks: 44
Building upon a Scottish "Wee Heavy", this unique beer was developed to provide a strong caramel malt flavour with enough salt to give it a bit of a bite. Stronger in alcohol, this beer starts off sweet but remains fairly light to drink.

22 oz bottle poured into a Belgian snifter. Bottle courtesy of Richard and Better Beer Authority for a live Blind Taste Test. Clear amber/copper color with a small amount of off-white to slightly yellowish head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, dark fruit. Tastes of dark fruit, caramel, toffee, candied and brown sugar. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation, syrupy mouthfeel. Fairly smooth. Having it blind I was guessing a barleywine around 7-8%.

What size bottle is this? 22oz? Pours a murky brown with very little white head. Nose is fairly muted, some caramel, some malt, a little candied orange, some raisin, a little prune. Flavors are similar, sweet, malt, caramel, a little toast, raisins, orange. Medium bodied. Forgettable.

Golden amber, sweet character...almost flavoured, i like the salty caramel notes, but it’s too sweet to drink too much.

A reddish brown scotch ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, strong sweet cherry malt with candy overtones and fruity pulp. In mouth, a sweet fruity malt with light corky notes, a bit light. Cask Days 2013.

Pretty decent scotch ale. Some light whiskey malt here. Pours red with heat head and ok lacing. Candied malt as well with sweet finish and residual light spurned. Tap at volos.

Poured from a 650mL bottle. Clear orangish brown in colour with minimal off-white head. Very metallic aroma with some toffee, bread, and caramel. Qutie sweet and caramel-y to start with strong salt finish. Lacks body, similar to other Parallel 49 beers in the mouth.
