50 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe/Ungstrup. Pours dark and clear brown with an off-white head. Toffee and breadish roasted malt aroma. Sweet caramel malty and mild spiced flavoured. Smooth and light hoppy to counterbalance the malt into the finish. Smooth caramelish into the finish.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear orangey brown with a dense off-white head. Sweetish aroma of roasted malt. Quite full-bodied with sweetish roasted malt, a little rye bread and a whiff of metal. Some alcohol in the finish and some crude and raw bittering hops. 041008

Bottle, 7.5%. Clear dark red brown colour. Quite malty flavour, a little caramelly. There is some bitterness, a little rough, but it balances the sweetness OK.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a rather short off-white foamy head. Sweet malty, caramelly nose with dried fruits and a light herbal hoppy blend. Sweet flavour, medium to full bodied, medium carbonation. Robust toast-malty taste with strong notes of caramel and a well-balanced, light-herbal hoppy background; sweet and quite fat but not sticky toast-malty finish with dried fruits and a present herbal hops character in the very end (spring 07).

500ml bottle at Reading BF 08. Very deep brown with thin beige head. Chewy, tasty beer. Very pleased with this one. Toffee flavours, but roasted at the same time and slightly buttery. Tasty and satisfying. --- Beer merged from original tick of Maibock on 11 Aug 2006 at 07:16 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6. Original review text: Cask at GBBF 2006. Clear gold colour with no head. Lager malt aroma, but sweeter. Quite nice in mouth. Carbonated. Nice fruit, some peach. Bit of alcohol heat.

Bottle: Deep amber coloured, quickly diminishing - to a small persistent foamy layer - off-white head; sweet-malty, slightly fruity and a bit metallic nose; sweet and very delicate bitter flavour, medium-bodied; short fruity-malty finish with hoppy illusions from far away. Rather flat brew.......

(Draught at GBBF, London, 3 Aug) Colour is golden yellow with firm white head. Nose is malty with some tropical fruit (pineapple, mango). Taste is malty and fruity with pineapple, mango and fresh spicey hops in the long finish. Some sweetness from the malt and alcohol, but overall very well balanced. Warming!

8/7/8/8/9/8 --- Beer aliased from original tick of Maibock Dunkel on 07 Sep 2014 at 03:48 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.5. 9/9/8/8/9/8

Deep dark Coca-Cola brown; yellow-brownish medium head, fast disappearing. Fine, discreet but subtle malts nose, with some flowery, fine herbal aromas and present but discreet malts (dark and lighter, sweetish). Burnt, roasted caramel taste on the verge of bitterness, no doubt kept up by some hops. Sweetness, again caramelly in character. Again some herbal, even earthy notes. Quite nice, good balance. Retronasal pine needles. Medium bodied, creamy texture, some burning sensation. Very good, and by its colouring original Maibock; well spotted, Sebastian!
