Keg @ Bavaria Brauhaus, Glasgow. Clear deeper golden with a glow and a creamy head. Dense textured through its strength but smooth with a few caramels available in taste.

Bottle. Bier Huis Ossett. Has “Wies’n-Märzen” on the label. Clear gold. Nice thick lasting white foam. Sweet biscuit malt. Touch of sourness. Light nutty notes. Grassy hop. Taste has some biscuity sweetness and a nice grassy bitterness. Smooth and chuggable. Moderate but lingering bitterness to finish. Great logger bier.

Bottle, 5.8%. Metallic, dusty and lagery aroma. Clear dark golden colour. Small white head. The flavour is malty, slightly sweet, dusty with a rustic bitterness. Well-balanced.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from Beer Merchants Tap. Pours crystal clear light honey-gold with a small, fading white foam head. Medium sweet flavour with simple bready malts, biscuits, subtle caramel, a bit of dough. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet, bready and biscuity finish, nips of sun-kissed pale grains. Tasty, easygoing fare.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - cloudy golden amber. Big creamy off-white head. Nose - banana and toffee with light clove or nutmeg. Taste - banoffee pie and light sweet spice note. Chantilly cream. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy sweet middle. Still fairly sweet on the finish. Overall - a pretty good example of a hefweizen though it's not the usual for Marzen style.

Bottle online from Beer Merchants. Pours a clear golden colour with a large thick foamy white head. Aromas of grains, hay, white bread and honey. Taste is again the same notes, sweet grains, sweet honey, hay and bready. Very malty with hardly any bitterness. Full body, low carbonation and smooth mouthfeel. Very decent beer. Good one.
