One of our first beers – Atak Chmielu is an insanely hopped AIPA. Red-copper in color, full-bodied, with a bunch of citrus in taste and aroma. Citrus, floral, resinous, piney, fruity – thanks to the American hops! It has been brewed on 28th of March 2011 for the first time ever and became the very first AIPA brewed in Polish commercial brewery. This is how Polish beer revolution has started!

Ingredients: water, barley malts: pale ale, melanoidin, Carared®, Carapils®; hops (USA): Citra®, Simcoe®, Cascade, Amarillo®; yeast: SafAle™ US-05.

Copper with a big head. Caramel malt under citrus and pine hops. Bitter finish. Medium bodied. A solid IPA though nothing stands out.

Hand pumped at Omertà, Krakow, Poland. Pours copper colour, transparent, with fine whitish foam. Aroma is intense of malt, caramel. Body is average, with no carbonation. Taste is medium bitter, with a strong malty base. Final is still fairly rich, malty.

Bottle at home. Aroma is bready malt, caramel, some toffee, biscuit, hint of fruits, copper, some pine, tea, unfortunately also some diacetyl. Flavour is moderate sweet and moderate to medium bitter. Body is medium. Fairly drinkable, but not my kind of IPA at all. A maltbomb rather than a fruity hopbomb, not what I hope for from an "American IPA". Add to that a bit of diacetly and I’m not impressed.
