Our 05|09 IPA - Vienna 6.7% is a slight different take on an IPA. We use 95% Vienna barley malt that is kilned slightly longer to provide a bright red hue and a richer, fuller bodied finish. We have further enhanced the malty red fruit character with a blend of Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, and Centennial hops from the US.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey golden colour with average, thick, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of strawberry and rhubarb, lychee, cautious hints of orange zest, mango remains hidden for a long time. Taste is minimally sweet pale malty, dry, fruity hoppy overtones, notes of strawberry rhubarb, and lychee, later bone-dry, herbal and peppery-spicy hints clamp a triangle with a sorrel, lemongrass and mint peg respectively. Variegated hoppy notes unfold a quite complex scale of fruity flavours none of which is in itself of easy going, flattering character.

Bottle at home picked up from Semi clear golden orange coloured pour with a lasting white medium white froth. Aroma is nice strawbberry jammy fruit, citrus fruit, sweet grains, Flavour is composed of a solid pale grain platform with a little nuttyness, hops are jammy strawberry, little citrus rind and background tropical fruit, mango. Bitterness is nice and mellow but assertive anf fruity in nature. Lingering slightly grainy malts and jammy fruit. Palate is medium bodies with moderate carbonation, and a litle sweet.
Really drinkable and balanced and packed with flavour.

Bottle at home in London - sourced from the brewery. Pours clear, rich gold, effervescent, with a frothy off-white head. Great juicy hops in the nose with some up-front citrus fruits, orange, melon, tangerine, slight berries, pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with nice hop/malt balance, some lightly toasted pale bread, slight grain husk, rindy orange, also some citrus juice, more tangerine, mango, slight citric edge. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming on the finish with further pale, bready malts, juicy and lightly gooey citrus fruits, some pine resin, slight grassy bitterness, further rind. A well made IPA.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury drunk on train to Dover. Big hoppy aroma. Some vienna malt sweetness to balance the massive hops. I like it. A sweetish ipa but super fresh. Hops are lime and grapefruit. I mean fresh as hell. strong no doubt but I like the malty fruit added to it by the recipe. Nice warming sipper of an ipa.

Keg at Bottle Cap. It pours hazy orange-amber with decent white head. The nose is bitter-sweet, pine, jammy red fruits, tangerine, blood orange and sponge cake. The taste is bitter, toasty, pine, bitter-sweet, varnish, pine, light spice, red grapefruit, pepper, light alcohol and something akin to Victoria sponge with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Works rather well. Good bitter-sweet balance.

Keg at Union Tavern, Westbourne Park, London, Friday 6th March 2015 Pours mid amber with a white rim. Quite a tangy beer, Loz thinks a little sweet, I agree, but it is rather pleasant.A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4
