Bottle. Thanks Fukuda-san. White wine and Brett aroma, tropical fruit, mango, passion fruit, pineapple very soft. Citrus at the end. Good stuff. Feels boozy but very easy going at the same time.

33cl bottle from the brewery. A slightly hazy deep amber pour with a fast fading white head; there’s a chardonnay aroma as soon as the bottle is opened, with some brett and vanilla on closer examination; rich and syrupy in the mouth with a wine character, some tropical fruit, and a well balanced bitterness; then a long creamy oaked finish. The barrel aging is really obvious in this beer.

Draft. A dark red beer with a huge lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, malt, caramel, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of straw, malt, caramel, and hops, leading to a bitter finish.

Poured into a teku showing apricot and honey hues with very sparse head. The nose shows a lot of stone fruit (apricot, peaches, ) and brett together. The palate shows a high carbonation and medium body - a bright apricot/peach forwardness is apparent on the palate. The brett makes appearance in the background but doesn’t add any sour characteristics. There’s a constant grapefruit bitterness in the background (Same type of bitterness seen in the Siren/Prairie Ratchet Saison). This grapefruit bitterness lingers on the tongue a very long time even after the finish which makes it slightly unpleasant. But the fruit flavors and the brett give it an interesting complexity that somewhat compensate for it.

Bottle from Stirchley Wines, Birmingham. Just about clear, golden colour. Filmy, white head. Oily, lemon zest. Lime, too. Gooseberry, maybe. Taste is dry, tart and fairly bitter. Palate is tart, with some oiliness, emphasised by the soft carbonation. Finish is woody, tart and dry. Bung a Lost Abbey label on it and triple the price...? Very nice.

Bottle on the 2nd Friday night is Bottled Beer Night 2014. Bottle from The Bottle Shop Canterbury. Slightly hazed clear gold with thin white head. Creamy wine aged aroma. Dry bretty aroma comes through more though. Biscuit. Beautiful aroma. Chardonnay and brett. Wow what a combination. Peachy melon chardonnay and biscuit dry brett. The flavour is just an explosion in the mouth. It’s funny, I’ve had some ok and some sub standard beers this evening and 2 that just blow everything else out of the water. Brett, some sourness, some sharp white wine flavour. The chardonnay is certainly crisp in nature. Not too much oak or wood which is a good thing in my opinion, it’s all about the fruit. wow this is good. A bit too big and intense for me, but wow. It’s an explosion of delight. The chardonnay just grows and grows in the flavour and finish mixed with this lovely bretty biscuit. Wow.
