Well 1st off, I have to say I’m surprised this is drinkable and not infected! Trafalgar has a brutal rep for infected beer. Amber pour, very small white head, next to no carbonation, almost a flat beer. Aroma is very grassy, with some rye in there, i can actyually tatse it, but the grassiness dominated the aroma. The flavour definitely has some rye, i can taste it,and its pleasant, but the grassiness comes back, and dominates the finish. I’m not sure about the oak ageing......i cant tatse it at all. Decent beer, it’s drinkable, which is saying alot about the other Trafalgar beers i’ve had.

Another bomber brew from Trafalgar at the LCBO. New label mentioning that they are part of the OCB (Ontario Craft Brewers). Pours a nice clean golden-orange colour with average tiny-bubble carbonation, a small head, little retention, but some decent lace. The nose is well-balanced (but not too strong) with caramel malt, rye, fruity orange notes and the hop. Smooth slightly creamy and watery mouthfeel, making this one refreshing. Again, the taste is pretty tame, but still nicely balanced with the rye, bread malt and mild hop in the finish. The oak comes out in the aftertaste. Overall, a nice inoffensive rye beer.

Medium brown color with a low, tan head. Aroma of amber malts, rather sweet and caramel, with decent hops, wood, and rye. rich oak flavor, with rye and caramel malts. Buttery and creamy. Very nice flavor, distinctive, oaked like a chardonney. Some chocolate as well. Malty, buttery finish with a touch of sour. Very interesting and flavorful with complex malts. the rye is light but noticeable. Unlike the German varieities, more ale like. Slightly too sweet and buttery.

A nice amber ale with a thick light moka head. A pleasant vanilla aroma, with little acid points. In mouth, rye malt with light oaken wood notes, dry, medium bodied. A good beer for Trafalgar. Bought at LCBO, Ottawa.

Bouteille 650ml, courtoisie de Blankboy. De couleur cuivrée et légèrement voilée. Nez malté de céréales sucrées (léger de seigle), légèrement boisé (bois humide), de houblon herbeux (herbes mouillées) et de biscuits sucrés ainsi qu’avec des notes fruitées (agrumes) et de caramel butterscotch terreux. Mince-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement bas et une texture légèrement crémeuse et aqueuse. Léger goût fruité (agrumes peu sucrées, traces de pommes) accompagné d’un léger goût de céréales sucrées et des traces de légumes bouillis lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute rapidement un moyen goût malté de biscuits, de seigle légèrement rôti (notes asséchantes) et avec des notes de caramel butterscotch terreux puis en finale l’on retrouve une légère-moyenne amertume de houblon assez herbeux (herbe mouillée) aux faibles notes florales et accompagné de notes boisées asséchantes (notes de bois humide, traces de fût de chêne) et de noix. Post-goût moyen et un peu sec, léger-moyen amer de houblon herbeux avec un léger goût de seigle et des notes fruitées (zest d’agrumes) et boisées ainsi que des traces de noix.

Bottle: Poured a light copper color ale with a medium foamy head with average retention and some lacing surprisingly. Aroma consists of dry malt with some notes rye. Taste is a mix between some refreshing rye notes with some very subtle and almost undetectable oak. Medium body with some average carbonation. Definitely better then the last couple of offering from this dubious brewer.

This ale poured a deep orange colour with a white rocky head. To the nose there is scents of yeast and grain. Not much else. First sip is slightly watery with a strong flavours of rye grain and a bitter finish. Palate is slightly smokey with lingering bitterness.
