can from the LCBO. dark amber mahogany color. small beige head that didnt last long. aroma of caramel hops, and some sweet sherry notes. Flavour is full bodied, and sweet. Nice notes of malt, and nex tto no hops. A little too sweet, but its a nice enjoyable beer, but i wouldnt have more than one.

Can from the LCBO. Clear medium copper with a lingering one finger off white head. Nose is caramel, dark fruit and some floral notes. Light+ sweet caramel start with some fruit and a medium- bitterness through the finish. Creamy but slightly thin with soft carbonation. 7/3/7-/13-

Smells like slightly caramelized malt. Pours clear amber with dead head. High carbonation. Taste has some bitterness with the slightest hint of oak barrel, sweetness. Palate pretty empty. Tall can lcbo.

Bought this can a while back at the LCBO and now thought it was the right time to open it up... and it exploded on me and foamed beer all over my desk and myself. OK, now back to normal. Pours a clear golden-amber colour with lots of bubbles stuck to the glass. The head is fluffy, huge, a bit off-white, has good retention and leaves dirty lacing all over (and beer on my floor). I get mostly hop from the smell, and lots of it. Then after pouring some more, I get some butterscotch, but the hop is really taking over, right after breathing a few seconds. Mmm... the butterscotch is in the taste as well, but not in a sweet over-powering manor. Mild nuts come out in the finish. The hop is there in the flavour, but letting some room to the rest, and just sitting back. Overall, really nice hoppy nose with decent taste to create a beautiful scotch ale that I would buy again. Just watch out for the pour and its crazy head.

This ale poured a Golden orange colour with a quick living, bright white head. To the nose there are scents of hopps, caramel, malt and pineapple citrus. First taste was pretty hoppy with sweet citurs flavours. Grassy notes along with a bitter / hoppy finish. The palate was nice and hoppy with bitterness lingering and the slight flavour of juniper there as well.

Can: Poured a light amber color ale with a good size foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aroma consists of lightly sweet caramel malt with not many other discernable characteristics. Taste is dominated by some lightly sweet caramel malt. Medium body with some OK carbonation. No hint of peat smoke or fruity ester. Not bad with no identifiable brewing flaws and easily quaffable.

I am rating the Neustadt Double Fuggled Ale, served from the cask at C’est What? in Toronto. I must add that this is definitely NOT the same beer as the Scottish Ale. The base might be the same or similar, but the hopping and the overall effect are entirely different. This is a fantastic beer, with a perfect balance between sweet caramel malt, in the Scottish style, and a decent amount of fuggles hops. The great thing is its originality--when have you had such a dose of fuggles straight? Never before for me. This is a beer unlike any I have ever had--not the most challenging, but perfectly balanced and extremely interesting. A must try, and I wish you guys would give it its own page!!!

Lightly hazed amber ale with an extra thick big bubbled lightly off white head. Lightly herbal malt in aroma. In mouth, a crisp malt with peppery yeastiness, veering on being off, or starting to go into saison land. Not bad...for an infected beer. Medium bodied.

Double-Fuggled. Cask @ C’est What? Old rate of Scottish Ale deleted. Golden colour with a thin, cask-y head. Really earthy hop aroma. Earthy, dry, and somewhat mushroomy character. Kind of thin, but that mushroom/diacetyl character inhibits drinkability.
