Weird Beard are not surfers but we are pretty new to the professional brewing game. Our first commercial beer is a collaboration with the London Brewing Company and it is a big IPA dry hopped with with the proverbial shit-load of Australian Galaxy hops. Shark Biscuit seemed like an apt name.

Draft at Pigs Ear 2013 - London. Pours clear gold with a frothy, white head. Interesting nose with notes of dry bread, leaves and faint citrus. Medium sweet flavor with semi-dry pale bread, toasted leaves, dried berries. Medium bodied with fine carbonation; well conditioned. Lightly warming on the finish with more dry pale bread and orange citrus. Fair.

Bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazy amber. Bubbly, but lasting, white head. Rose’s grapefruit marmalade. Toffee biscuit. Mouth watering, really. Taste is tinned, sweet grapefruit. But not for long. Big, puckering bitterness. Big, juicy fruit palate. Bitter, slightly clarty finish. My teeth have melted.

Pigs Ear. Hazy gold beer with a small bubbly cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and slightly soft. Sweet malt base with a streak of toffee. Spicy piney hops provide balance. Little dried fruits. Finishes semi dry with more hop spice. Very easy drinking. Good stuff.

Gravity dispense at Pigs Ear ’13, 05/12/13. Lightly hazed golden amber with a light beige covering. Nose is bitter orange, light fart, grassy, biscuit, caramel malt, light hoppings. Taste picks up from the nose, no fart ! Red grapefruit, bitter tropicals, straw, caramel malt backbone, sweet cake mix, candied orange peel. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, grassy gop bitterness in the finish. Decent enough IPA.

Cask gravity at Pigs Ear 2013. It pours clear amber with a small beige head. The nose is bitter-sweet, orange, tangerine, sherbet and light herbal notes. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, varnish, resin, crisp citrus, sherbet and light alcohol with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Very drinkable. Nice work.
