Bottle from Secret Santa. Deep dark brown color. Cappuccino aroma. Cappuccino flavor with dark chocolate, oak and grapes. Soft, creamy and velvety mouthfeel. Slightly alcoholic, but an excellent balance. Delicious beer.

From Jul 2008

I got this bottle in a trade with joe1510. Thanks Joe!

This pours a very dark brown bordering on black with about and inch of tan foam. It poured on the thick side so the mouthfeel is probably going to follow suit and feel yummy. There's some nice lacing and the foam, though it shrinks a bit pretty quickly, stays to the last drop as a fine solid layer.

The smell is tres nice. Lots of dark and milk chocolate with a fruity nose and a pretty big dose of bourbon and even more so, coffee.

The taste has the chocolates, has the bourbon, has the fruitiness, has some vanilla kicking in, has the coffee(duh), and man. this is tasting really great! Some alcohol is there and it warms the throat and tummy after the swallow but I'm sipping on it *really* slow so there's no problem there.

Mouthfeel *is* thick and creamy and I'm loving it. Nice low carbonation and it finishes with a fresh brewed coffee flavour that has some good lasting power. It's pretty darned drinkable whatever its abv is and I *know* it has to be up there..I'd guess between 8% & 9& abv, maybe more.

Ok, I looked at some of the reviews and the overall rating for this brew and I'm certainly not going to argue about the high accolades it is getting. This is an amazing brew! Thanks again, Joe, for sending this one my way!

Bottle thanks to Seth. Pours a clear amber with no head. The aroma is strong roast, coffee bean, and booze. Thin mouthfeel with nice roast, dark chocolate, light heat, wood, sweet finish. Very good.

12oz bottle. Opaque black body. Beige head that thins out after a minute or two. Big coffee aroma. Tyranena owns Imperial Porter. The coffee is quite pronounced, even bigger than the rich bourbon candy touched chocolate malts. Coffee bourbon oatmeal porter, a nice one too.

Opaque black - brown beer. Tiny tan head. Lacks the fruity character of the base beer. Replaces it with unsweet wood and very mild bourbon. Mild chocolate in the background. Finishes semi dry. Nice.

Whole lot going on with this beer, and it all works. The coffee flavor is immediate, black and strong, yet smooth as the woodsy vanilla of the oak-barrel aging sneaks up. Chocolate wanders in nonchalantly, then the bourbon sets off a party, until finally the various flavors start going Caligula all over the finish. Ugly, beheaded and forboding, but ignore these warning signs. This beer is delicious. (2008)
