Inspired by Strong Belgian Ales, it’s rather dark in color with ruby glares, it forms a firm frothy head and entices with its rich and complex aromas in which the warm and boozy notes are softened by the nutty ones. It’s round and sweet on the palate, with a big body, it has a long finish that leads to cocoa and roasty notes.

75cl bottle @ WWT 1. Clear dark red color, no head. Don’t smell much. Taste malts, a bit sweetness, lightly fruity.

Bottle, 13C. Dark brown with a beige head that’s soon less than a coat. Aroma of prunes, sweet red wine, raisins, mealy nuts. Slightly syrupy, low carbonation. Sweet with dark fruits, nuts, some cocoa and medicinal notes in a finish that dries out appreciably. Gentle bitterness at the end. Alcohol not really noticable. Seemed bland at first, but there’s some depth to the flavours. Lacks presence. Liked the finish.

Hazy red - brown beer. Short lived off white head. Soft palate from the head but dry after that. Darkish malt, not bitter. Wheat beer like bubblegum ester. A whisper of spice and banana and orange. Not bad, a bit over dry.

En torr belgisk strong ale. Söt och fin, smak av jäst, honung, karamell och en ton choklad, välbalanserad.

Bottle at Copenhagen Beer Festival. A bit of a disappointment. A sweet belgium style strong ale with little taste. Almonds if anything distinguishes this anonymos ale.

75 cl. bottle – shared@Delirium Hoppy Loft: mahogany red with a beige head, overripe dark fruits, slightly sour with a vinous aftertaste, caramel & cane sugar, slightly musty, fermenting malt, slightly medicinal, slightly alcohol finish, plenty of nuts, not bad

Bottled 750ml (Punavuoren Ahven, ABV 8.5%, BBE 09/2012)
Deep red color, small steady beige head. Ryeish, cardboardish and a bit caramelly aroma. Medium bodied. Berryish, caramelly, dusty tobacco flavor. Not the best from Birra del Borgo.

Bottle: Poured a dark burgundy color ale with a small off-white bubbly head with almost no retention and no lacing. Aroma of caramel with light toffee and some warming alcohol. Taste is not complex as I would have hope with some straight caramel malt with dry notes and light toffee with some clear medicinal notes. Body is a bit light with almost no carbonation and some alcohol was apparent. Overprice and not too good for the style.
