This brown ale has a fruity aroma, with traces of caramel. A malty centre sits underneath notes of plums and raisins. A great traditional English style, you can enjoy this with almost any food but a good old-fashioned roast beef dinner sets it off a treat.

15/11/2020. Bottle (lockdown 2.0 takeout) from The Duke, Ipswich. Pours dark bronze brown with a small frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, milk chocolate, caramel, biscuit, nut, dried fruits. Medium sweetness and moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, average carbonation. Decent drop, nicely done AF beer.

Bottle from BeerRitz. It pours clear deep brown with a small, foamy beige head. The aroma is sweet, spicy, nutty, brown bread, caramel and malt loaf, The taste is fairly sweet upfront, bitter - sweet character throughout, caramel, toffee, toasted nuts, some fruit cake / malt loaf and some wet cardboard with a dryish finish. Light body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Decent for what it is, but perhaps a touch sweet for my personal tastes. Not too shabby for the style.

330ml bottle. Chestnut brown colour, tan foam head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of swampy roasted malt. Taste is roasted malty, milky, cream, chocolate, coffee with some ashy earthy light bitterness. Thin bodied, soft carbonation, dry roasted finish. OK.
