A spiced saison, with Ma Khaen and Andaliman peppercorns, and Persian dried limes. The peppercorns are of the Zanthoxylum genus, and hence more related to Szichuan pepper than to Piper varieties. Also: not all peppers are hot, and neither is this beer. In fact, we think it's pretty cool :)

330ml bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck. Savoured with a homemade turkey madras. Misty yellow with large rocky white head. Aroma has light spice and welcoming sweet saison yeast. Noticeable, yet measured spice to taste attributable to the peppercorns I expect, tempered by some pillowy smooth yeast. Pairs nicely with the curry, the yeast providing a little creaminess to offset the heat. Decent overall.

Small off-white head over clear copper beer. Neutral nose, bit sweet as from rosewater and spices; all mild. Sharpish, pepper, bit like strong icetea. Underlying sweetness with roasted malts. Finish is really peppery, maybe even ginger. Very slick (wheat, or even oats?). Low to medium carbonation, light to medium bodied. Long lasting spicy flavours. Not bad at all.

330 ml. bottle. Bottled 11/08/2019. Hazy darker golden, off-white unstable head, mild fizzy carbonation. Nose is murky BE yeast with aspirin, stale dried lemon peel and Vitamin C. Lively bodied with very harsh astringent esters lemon peel, medicinal pepper, medicinal herbs, muddy BE yeast, lingering phenolic and plastic finish. I always remain optimist about Tall Poppy but they do tend to crash into bad excessive BE beers and not the USA craft inspired ones that they aim. The bottle did promise a spiced saison but this is all unpleasant excessive spices, harsh phenolics, unpleasant bitterness & dirty BE yeast. Just not my kind of beer at all.

Pours rather unclear blonde, small white head. Smell is mildly phenolic. Fresh. Taste is full, bitter, grassy, phenolic ( enhanced by the added peppers )intense, very bitter finish. Nice, Tastes far more intense than the listed 40 IBU .
