30/IX/16 - on tap @ De Geus van Gent (Gent) - BB: n/a (2016-1196)

Clear blond beer, solid creamy off-white to yellow head. Aroma: some tropical fruits, citrus, grapefruit. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very bitter start, citrus, resinous, really bitter, grapefruit. Aftertaste: lots of grapefruit, hoppy, bit of mandarins, slightly sourish, very bitter and dry finish.

Draft at Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Clear golden orange with a white head. Aroma of soapy hops, herbal hops, weeds and light fruit with light yeasty notes. Flavour is light moderate sweet and bitter. Light to medium bodied with soft carbonation. [17-09-2016]

Draught Small white head over metallic copperish coloured beer. Smoked nose, greenery, cucumber, pale malts. Bitterish, wry flavour. Bit of malts, but no restsweetness. Light. Watery. Bad it is not. For the rest, I can’t make anything of this beer. Nor from the silly name.

Draft at Moeder Lambic. Aroma of herbs and some grain. Taste has soft grain, malt and some forest herbs. Don’t understand why this boring beer is labeled as a Flemmish sour, it has nothing to do with it. And the name is stupid.

26/07/2016 - draught @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels.Clear orange with nice light tanned head. Nose is grainy, light fruity, buttery. Taste is first some grains, than full on bitter hops, but gentle not to harsh, a bit buttery. I couldn?t imagine this being based on the Oud Bruin so I asked. I got the info it was a seperate brew of 3.8 ABV, what seems right. Nice refresher, easy going in, dry ending. If you google it don’t forget to put Verzet before it! Bastards!

Draft glass @ Moeder Lambiek Fontainas. Clear dark orange, fairly tanned solid head. Nose is big sweetness, big butter, caramel, faint herbs, sweet malts, sugar. Taste is just massive, really big butter, toffee, caramel, butterscotch, flowers, overall just really massive butter, low plastic. Body is also massive butter & caramel. Sweetness & butter were so big that I didn’t even figure out that this one was supposed to be an Oud Bruin. I don’t get it, sebletitje’s review doesn’t seem to be punishing. I really struggled with this one, just massive sweet butter, really extreme, the name is retarded, this being of the new things to come of their own brewery, I am a bit put-off to be honest. I always enjoyed these guys beers in the past. Not sure what to make of this one. Whatever it is, I really didn’t like this one & I really struggled with it.

Draft @ ML Fontainas. Apparently, the second try of this batch, first to come out of the new installation.
