A sophisticated beer for the advanced connoisseur. It was once brewed by the English as a gift for the Russian tsarina. Today craft brewers all over the world enjoy this style because it allows them to live out all their creativity. We do this by stuffing our Imperial Stout with hops and storing it in barriques for six months before bottling it.
Vanilla and herbs, especially thyme, mingle. A gentle oily impression is followed by pine and a reoccurring herbal bouquet of thyme. The finish is soft but dry with lingering aromas of wood and black pepper.

Fra fat på Lemke am Schloss Berlin 12 Jan 18. Svart. Filmskum. Søt fruktaroma. Spor av røstet malt. Smaken litt lakris & krydder. Behagelig øl hvor alkoholen er godt kamuflert.

330ml bottle kindly shared by Finn. Black in the glass, clingy lacing from a low tan-colored head. Aroma of dark berries and dark malts. Flavoured with roasted black malts, wood, and by impact of berries. Malt-berry ending, sweet and tart. Tasty, enjoyed at Brauhaus Lemke am Schloß. (Berlin 12.01.2018).

Rett nok fyrer den av på alle pluggene på en gang, men den er allikevel godt balansert, og derfor fungerer det, ja det er skikkelig bra!

Pours virtually black from the bottle. Creamy, light tan head and light lacing. The beer plainly needs some time in the glass—a burnt plastic aroma at the outset faded away (thankfully!) to be replaced by more pleasing cherry overtones with noticeable oak. The burnt rubber and artificial sour inflections also faded. It stayed fairly sour but took on a more natural cherry tone with hints of thyme. Possibly lightly infected? Finishes sour. Body is medium to full, kind of oily. Overall very uneven but redeems itself for the most part.

Fläschchen: Literally black, big and creamy off-white head; moderate to solid sweet-roasty nose with distinctive traces of vanilla; moderate to solid sweet-bitter flavour with a slight acidity, full bodied, soft; a certain amount of warming alcohol in the lingering sweet-bitter roasty and vinous finish. Pleasant night-cap...

660ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige to tan head. Chocolately, dark malty and slightly vinous, fruity aroma, hints of blue grapes, a touch of plum, mild funky overtones. Taste is roasty, dark malty, hints of liquorice, a touch of soy sauce, dark chocolate; warming alcoholic finish.
