On tap at LCBF 2019, Tobacco Factory, London. Pours dark mahogany to black with a thin tan head. Aroma: sour roasted malts, lactic acid, wet wood, vinous wine hints. The taste follows, light to moderate sweet & bitter with funky Oud Bruin vinous characteristics & light smoke. Medium to full body, light carb, dry light sour finish

Very thick, dense, beige head, collapsing over jet-black beer. Lactic acid, old wood, brown sugar and a dash of booze, in the nicest possible way. Quite roasted, charcoal. Roast-burnt, and lactic acid, wet wood, again in a good balance. Faint esters/fruity/yeasty overtones, but the main drive is stout and Oud Bruin characteristics,. Faint whisky. Dense, despite alcoholthinning, alcoholheat; smooth, but not chewy. Good carbonation, stressing the lactic acidity. Excellent! Portugal is definitely on the map, now.

Tap @ Cerveteca Lisboa. Pours dark, good pale tan topping. Aroma is woody dark malts. Smooth, heavy body, good whisky presence, nutty, light peat, cocoa hints. Seems this beer has divided opinion but for me, on draft, it seemed to come together well.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 33A/16B). Bottle 37.5 cl - Batch L45-2018 (BBF 06-2038). AROMA: medium to medium-high barnyard, followed by stale wood notes. faint whiskey. APPERANCE: dark body with ruby highlights. medium light brown head with good retention. FLAVOR: medium-high wild fermentation notes (barnyard), followed by unpleasant wet wood/cloth-like notes. slight sourness. medium-low bitterness with dry finish and notes of stale/wet wood. PALATE: medium to medium-low body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a oak barrel aged oatmeal stout with added whiskey, completely overwhelmed by contamination and a strange wet old wood character.
