Taken at a local pub on 29th Nov 2011, hand pulled into a UK pint sleeve. Amber/golden hue to the body with a cream coloured frothy head sat on top, the sparkler at the end of the swan’s neck ensuring the beer took a while to settle in the glass (and give that frothy crown). The aroma was more malt than hop, roasted/toasted malts to be precise, nuts too. Semi-sweet malty flavour, biscuity/bready feel to the taste; smooth and easy to drink. A dry bitterness arrives towards the end of each sip, just to remind you this is a UK Bitter not a creamy, sweet brew.

Cask at the White Lion, Tenterden. Golden amber witha dense cream head; malty aroma; smooth, with a caramel flavour with a touch of red fruit; the finish is light and biscuity with some gently bitter hops. A workmanlike bitter - fine, but not exceptional.

[Cask at the Hobgoblin, High Wycombe] Amber with a moderate white head. Caramel at first, with roasted hints. Odd but enjoyable savoury biscuit flavour develops before a smooth finish. Nice. c6

Cask handpull at The Pheasant Ashford. Clear pale chestnut colour. Lasting creamy head from sparkler. Malty aroma. Lovely rich mid brown malts. I mean its a tasty malty best bitter. Ticks all the boxes with an extra one for being just damn good. The reason I like drinking bitter.
