It's summer, the sun is out and Half Mast is the perfect way to celebrate. An IPA with a quarter of the alcohol, but not lacking in the flavour, impact balance that you would expect from a Siren beer. This golden coloured IPA has a surprising malt base given it's strength, low bitterness, but it's popping with juicy mango and grapefruit. Truly the perfect summertime drink.

Cask at White Hart, Chobham. Floral citrus aroma. Sweet grapefruit. Medium amber. Thin off-white head. Sweet and sour before a medium bitterness kicks in. Grapefruit. Peaches. Iced tea. Light bodied but slick. Soft carbonation. Long finish. Surprisingly fruity and punchy for such a low ABV. Two thumbs up.

A very low ABV IPA is a fantastic idea. However, it was over carbonated and it left me feeling gassy. There was a nice short flavour from the hops, but this morphed into a sharp flavour as the taste developed in the mouth and as I drank more from the glass. Not for me.

330 ml bottle, as Siren Half Mast, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 2.8%. Pale golden colour, large white head. Lovely hoppy aroma of spruce tips, pine needles, tropical fruits and citrus. Light bodied as expected, but has plenty of flavour. The hoppy flavour is quite dry, with distinct piney notes, also citrus (esp. grapefruit) and some tropical fruits. Very bitter aftertaste.
