Allagash Brewing Company would like to introduce its Tenth Anniversary Ale, a special 10% ABV beer that celebrates 10 years of brewing artisinal Belgian Style ales. A unique interpretation of our flagship Allagash White, Tenth Anniversary is a blend of two different whites: a sweeter batch (brewed in February, 2005) and a drier batch (brewed in March, 2005). By blending the two batches, an additional complexity is imparted. Further complexity, most notably expressed by the delicate vanilla notes, was gained by aging some of the beer in new oak barrels.

Hazy gold - amber beer. Softish dry palate. Subtly spiced malt with a distinct orange sherbet but also something else vegetal. Finishes dry soft and spicy with alcohol aniseed and warmth. Tasty and drinkable.

Bottle @ Armin’s place, thanks to Satchboogie. Thanks Dany! Bready, lemon citrusy, somewhat spicy, Belgian yeasty, a bit toasty, somewhat oxidized aroma. Tangy, spicy, Belgian yeasty, thick straw, lemon/tangerine fruity, buttery, oxidized flavor. It’s not that bad and I’m sure it was excellent a few years back, but it’s going down now.

Bottle, 2005, at the Funky 6. Pours hazy gold with a medium head. Fruity malt aroma with some spices, Belgian yeast and alcohol. Sweet flavor peach and citrus, Belgian sugar, more spices and light wood. Medium to full in body with modest carbonation. Finishes sweet and spicy with light booze. Delicious and excellent.

courtesy of Matta. 2005 bottle. Pours a nice cloudy orange / gold with thick frothy white head. Aroma is yeasty with some really nice touch of fruits (apricot - tropical fruits -. Taste thick with good yeasty mouthfeel. Overall smooth and sweet with sugar notes, light brett giving a sweet apple mouthfeel. Lightly malty. This is one tasty beer, aged well.

Cloudy golden coloured body with a honey/orange tint and a thin white head. Aroma of honey, yeast, coriander seed, lavendar, curacao and a light amount of hops. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavour with plentiful sugars showing fruits and coriander seed freshness. Nice flavour all the way through. Aftertaste clean, but good sugars throughout the beer make it even better. Overall, a great beer - definitely worth trying if you can find it. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased from Norm’s in Vienna, Virginia on 02-August-2005.

Well what Brandon below me did not mention was this bottle exploded all over the place. I thought I would be ready for it but as soon as it hit I was forzen, half of it ended up on the bar. But it poured a very beautiful yellow, cannot see through it but its a great glowing goldenish-yellow. Aroma is slight barnyard funk, thick biscuit maltiness with citrus highlights. I get nice sweet pear. Taste has good English malt sweetness, cookie dough, and grape. A very light and dry finish. A very well crafted beer that has aged well so far.

Thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing this now-scarce brew - cloudy bright orange pour, with a rather thick, sticky white lace - strong fruity esters in the aroma,with floral notes and touches of honey, with an undercurrent of musty, earthy, yeasty qualities - still rather sweet (I figured the age would have made it less so) - loads of orange marmalade flavors, along with hints of apricot - soft carbonation/mouthfeel - touches of safron and light spices - light vanilla and honey - a tiny bit of oak - lingering fruity esters in the finish - a slight bit of oxidation seems to be setting in, but this still might improve for another year or so.
