On draught at Mondial, 2005. Had this one quite a few times. Lightly hazy body is a brilliant copper-gold with some amber highlights. Thick, white, fluffy/creamy head is full and lasting providing sheets of lacing. Smells of dry, earthy/grassy hops. Farmy, leafy, lightly bitter as well. Creamy, honeyish malt backbone can be sensed in the nose and comes alive in the flavor. Some sweaty dough-like notes and creamy sugar notes do detract from the crisp hoppiness of the aroma, somewhat. Full bodied and wonderfully extracted malt. Tons of noble-hops character. Sweet honey dough, caramel suggestions and sweet biscuits and honey. Surprising amount of bitterness for using noble hops, with no citurs flavors, which is a great change of pace (not that there should be any real citrus notes). Crisp, bitting yeast on the end, highly refreshing and drinkable. Moderate carbonation and a great drinkability for how malty and hoppy it is. Been waiting for this one for a long time, and it did not disappoint.

Lightish gold color with nice full lacy head. Classic pilsner aroma, redolent of aromatic spicy grassy hops with a hint of tomato vines. Flavor is briskly hoppy above a thin layer of malt. Finish is more balanced than expected, malt carries through until the end. Still, a firm bitter background is omnipresent. Less crisp than a classic Bohemian pilsner but still rather good stuff.

Clear medium gold. Hoppy-bready aroma with some mineral notes. Slightly crisp, with warm maltiness. Hops are grassy, slightly fruity. Cat piss came on a little too strong though.

Intense pale green-gold; irregular snow-white head. Nose with grain, sweet malts, flowery, but just a whiff of hops in the background. An aroma of starfruit or cactus fig. One intensely short moment of a sweet fruit (difficult to say which); then follows a revolving of intense hoptaste, suitably bitter and sweet golden malt. Bitter mouthimpression keeps going on for long. Rather well-bodied. Bitterish taste is on the verge of harsh. An excellent balance. It didn’t really remind me of the great Czech Pilseners, but it is an interesting bottom fermenting beer all the same. thanks Martin!

Blonde with a nice thick frothy head. Grassy smell with nice hops. Good bodied beer with a good balance and hops, very czech in style, dry and not too sweet. Very good interpretation.

Bottle: Poured a light blondish brew with a huge head with standard retention. Carbonation is average with a nice standard body for this type of beer. Aroma is quite floral with a hint of dryness. Taste is a bit dry with some nice notes of malts. Overall, this is a very enjoyable example of the pilsner style comparable to Pilsner Urquell but I’m just not a huge fan of this type of beer.
