A surprise, this is a dark beer, brown, a head is almost medium and beige. Aroma has ripe fruitness, plum, barnyard, bretta. Taste has dark fruits, apple, bretta, light sourness. Medium bodied. Some notes of aging. Interesting beer, bretta could have been stronger, but nicely balanced now.

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with lasting, frothy, beige head. Malty, fruity, spicy nose with notes of blackberries, raisins, chocolate, dark bread, caramel, maple syrup and bretty aromas of barnyard. Malty, fruity, spicy taste with raisins, blackberries, caramel, chocolate, dark bread, liquorice, coffee, lemon, bretty yeast and a mild spicy bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, quite sweet. Tasty, but a bit unfocused and all over the place. Still, quite nice.

From the backlog - pours dark amber with a small head. The aroma is of caramel, yeast, and sherry. The flavor is sweet and malty with chocolate and sherry. It tastes very oxidized. Why is a roughly 3 1/2 year old 8% alcohol Brett fermented beer this oxidized? I don’t get it. No funk. Minimal complexity. Every bottled beer from this store tastes oxidized. It’s four different beers now. I figured prior ones were just too old, but this one shouldn’t be this oxidized yet. I wonder if they stored their beers somewhere far too warm or something. It’s hard to fairly rate this beer. I won’t be too terribly hard on it for that reason, but it’s been out of production for years so I guess it doesn’t much matter.

650ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brwon colour with average, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Tangy, fruity, slightly funky aroma, notes of morello, hints of plum, blue grapes, some oak, a spicy touch of nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, balsamico, slightly chocolately, toasty, nutty, dark malty background. Taste is mildly tart, fruity, sweet-ish, chocolately dark malty, hints of milk chocolate and cocoa, morello, cherry, hints of blue grapes, a spicy touch of cinnamon and nutmeg, some dark honey, balsamico, minimally dry, oaky overtones. Creamy texture, super-soft, smooth and silky palate, gentle, minimally prickly carbonation. Very well balanced, harmonious, superbly crafted - excellent beer.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very creamy, three centimetre tall tan head that shows some light movement towards the bottom of the glass. Aroma of funk, brett, yeast, earth, toffee, caramelised sugars and a dose of alcohol and malt as well - quite strong in the nose and very complex. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence; Strong robust brett and yeast flavours at first with some dryness, a touch of soured or more tart flavours, but definitely more focused on the malt and actually the caramelised sugars and toffee sweetness that is noticeable throughout. Aftertaste shows some dry qualities, a touch of grain and subtle yeast flavours with a bit of brett and a light sweetness from caramel and toffee with some pitted fruits and ending with a pure malt bite and a hint of alcohol as well. Overall, a nice enough beer that shows character, some moderate complexities, but what it is lacking is a defined style of beer that it attempts to be creating, as this seems all over the map, in a sort-of good way, but confusing in terms of identification. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Merchant's in Dearborn, Michigan on 29-June-2016 for US$7,79 sampled at home in Washington just over two years later on 04-July-2018 watching the Fireworks over our fine Capital.

The great pre GBBF bottleshare at ChrisO’s. Clear deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Palate is smooth and mildly dry, Some cocoa and crystallised fruits and a little ripe fruits. Smooth finish. Pretty dull and disappointing.
