Super dark, almost pitch black coloured body with a nice two to three centimetre tall rich lighter brown head. Aroma of super bourbon, vanilla, oak, grain, caramel, toffee and bunches upon bunches of alcohol - quite strong with a lot of bourbon as well. Full-bodied; Super strong rich malt flavours dominate at first with a lot of vanilla, anise, grain, earth, toffee and pure bourbon notes show through with a lot of legs and residual flavours from all the bourbon and vanilla that make this deep and lingering. Aftertaste shows the anise and licorice flavours at first with a ton of bourbon notes, some vanilla and sweetness and ending with a good deal of biscuity, earthy flavours that hit quite hard, especially with the high alcohol that really shows it and the complexity from the barrels. Overall, a nice and enjoyable beer with a ton of complexity from the aging process, but a lot of earth, vanilla and grain make this a bit more rounded. Great to try if you like bourbon-aged beers as this really shows it - and the complexity is driven from that side of things, but goes down not too harshly after a year or so. I sampled this ten ounce pour on draught at Blatt Beer & Table in Omaha, Nebraska on 06-November-2018 for US$10,00.

750 ml bottle, 2016 Vintage, cellared proper. This vintage comes in a t 13.5%. Fast fleeting tan head on a pitch black liquid. Aroma is light charger, chocolate, weak cheap bourbon. Lots of sweet nuances, molasses, chocolate, charred grain. The body is mostly full with a sweeter bourbon in the finish. Oily slick texture on the mouth. The alcohol is mostly hidden considering the strength. Not top-tier but not the Trainwreck that others have experienced.

Draft/Fest. A- Green apple. A- Black color, black liquid, tan head. T- Alcohol, green apple. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, tart finish. O- Can’t believe they didn’t sample this before the fest and it was still a special release. Tons of green apple and a bit tart. Definitely had some infection going on. Unless they soured this beer like they have to it in the past.
