Impenetrabile color mogano con riflessi rubino. Schiuma cappuccino, aderente allo stile, compatta e persistente.

A deep dark stout with a thick frothy lacing big bubbled brown head. In aroma, sweet caramel chocolate malt with light coffee notes, light grassy hops and vanilla. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with loads of coffee and vanilla, light powdery character, alcohol warmth, very nice for a 3 year old beer. Bottle from Rome.

33 cl bottle @ home, BBE 31.07.2016
Lots and lots of foam when pouring. Aroma has cold coffee, some chocolate, ash and hints of vegetables. A bit stinging palate, too much CO2. Flavour has cold coffee, chocolate, licorice and hints of vegetables. Also some ashy vichy notes typical to beers too high on CO2. Somewhat enjoyable despite all that.

33cl bottle I picked up at a little bottle shop in the countryside north of Verona. Big pop and lots of fizzy brown head that settled over a watery but black body had me worried about infection. Nose doesn’t show it though, quite a nice bouquet of coffee beans, some brown sugar, toast, mocha. Flavor has cola, licorice, coffee sure, mocha, toast, some char. Full bodied, spritzy finish.

Bottle from 4Sensi, Milano,. A lot of coffee on the nose. Silky in mouth. Deep black look. Thinner than I expected, with the coffee overpowering the malt profile.

Tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Leighton. Clear dark brown beer, small bubbly pale tan head. Palate is light and dry. Dark malts with cheap candy chocolate. Dry coffee, somewhat earthy. Light dry finish. Not too bad.

Bottle split at Bruce’s Pad, thanks to LKS, 24/06/14. Extremely dark mahogany brown with a moderate tan swirl and spotting. Nose is coffee, mineral notes, light roast, chocolate, spice, light smoke. Taste comprises earthy tones, coffee rinse, brown bread, miolasses, chocolate, light dirt. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light boozey notes in the close. Solid enough impy, not top of class but an easy sipper.
