This is our take on a double IPA. Although some would consider it somewhat ‘Belgian’ in its malt and yeast profile, we definitely crammed in all the juicy, fruity and fresh hops that any hophead could possibly wish for.
With Elliot, we tried to create a refreshing beer that’s dangerously drinkable while still maintaining that unxious mouthfeel that Struise is so renowned for. Being able to either quaffed or sipped, this is one of our most versatile multi-purpose beers.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Hazy, reddy, amber. Thin, lasting, cream coloured head. Thick, sweet, tinned mandarin. Some buttery toast. Grapefruit. Melted brown sugar. A little yeast fustiness helps prevent a sugar overload. Taste is thick sweetness, then the bitterness kicks in. Full bodied. Long, bitter finish. Full on.

Orangish colour with many rests of sediments, off white head with nice lacework and good lasting. Aroma has notes of resins, pine, some fruity notes, mainly oranges and peaches. Flavor has a strong bitterness, very compensated with resins and fruity notes, hints of bittery oranges, peaches, grapefruit, some caramel notes are also present. The final has a good bitterness with good duration, perhaps a little bit astringent on palate. Creamy and dense on palate.

31/01/2014 Ma che siete venuti a fà (tap). Ambrata, abbastanza limpida, schiuma biancastra leggera. Al naso malto, lieviti, spezie, note agrumate e di resina, intensa. In bocca è equiliibrata, con un attacco maltato e un finale amaro lungo e persistente, solo un po’ stancante a lungo andare. Corpo medio-elevato, carbonazione media. Ok.

Borefts 2013 - Hazy light brown colour. Thick, syrupy texture. It’s bittersweet and lingers on the palate.

Sheeto peeto, I had no idea this was a DIPA when I bought it, I just liked the idea of it being a RateBeer special. God knows how old this is, but with no date stamp, Struise gets what they get. OK, here goes. Bottle. Pours clear ruby hazel with a medium tan head, creamy, slowly dissipating with nice lacing in its wake. Aroma is malty, herbal, pine, spruce. Flavor is interesting - strongly bitter with underlying sweetness A rye-like bite to it as well. Finish is bitter, far finish is bitter. Not a lot of hop aromatics left here, mostly pine cones and herbs, but there is a ton of those IBU still floating around. Not a lot of sweetness, but boy it is certainly hot. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. Ahhhhh, well. I have spent $7.99 in more intelligent ways before in my life.
