Bouteille 33cl, bottled 12/2013.

Bottle @ home. Hazy red-brown color, small beige head that diminishes quickly. Aroma is malts, caramel, slightly sweet. Taste about the same: malts, lightly sweet, caramel, brown sugar. Medium body and carbonation.

Tasted at Brugs Bierfestival, hobby brew commercialised through Gulden Spoor since earlier this year. Light beige, stable head, colour a murky dark brown. Aroma of bitter chocolate, thyme, hazelnuts, pear, dried plums, gingerbread, bit of woodiness without being actually matured on wood. Taste begins with a dried fruitiness, bit sweetish, caramel, towards the finish more spicy yeastiness and ending with some toasted bitterness, alcohol well-hidden. All in all nothing too bad, but I’ve had lots of better examples of the style and certainly nothing near Westvleteren 12 or anything of that kind, contrary to what some other comments here suggest.

Reddish brown colour, beige white head. Aroma of candy and yeast. Sweet flavour, caramel and malts. Malty finish, caramel. Not quite my cup of tea.

8/III/14 - 33cl bottle from Bierhalle Deconinck (Vichte) @ Emelisse brewery (Kamperland) - bottled: VII/2013 (2014-262)
Clear red to red brown beer, big irregular off-white head, adhesive. Aroma: very bready, some caramel, sugary, sweet. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet, caramel, bit spicy, little bitter, sugary, sweet malts. Aftertaste: little bitter, malty, caramel, some chocolate, little spicy, some anise, sugary, little hoppy. A shame of all the bogus ratings here, trying to alter the results of the beer. (Yes, I'm talking about you: Nathan121, JeSy, Zofo24, lani, foxtje (pretenting to be from Edinburgh, but writing the worst kind of English I've seen in a long time).

Draught Good white head; unclear brown beer; Wood, chocolate, herbs (thyme?). Dry chocolate, dark malts, sawdust, too effacée. Dry, attenuated, but no flavours left in the aftertaste. Starts good, ends disappointing.

33cl Bottle bought at Butcher’s Tears. Dark brown colour, creamy beige head. Aroma of rich malts, dark fruits, plums and figs, raisins, some nutty yeast, hops. Flavour is medium-sweet, malty, dark fruits, yeast, light spicy, nice hoppy and malty bitterness with a little alcohol touch, some chocolate. Fullbodied. Rich, tasty, complex beer, indeed along the lines of the great Trappist BSA’s.
