Of all German beers, Uerige Alt has the highest content of bitter constituents. In spite of – or maybe because of – this, our legendary Altbier from Düsseldorf is full-bodied, aromatic, and agreeable.

Our top-fermented specialty has been brewed since 1862, and is made of barley malt, caramel malt, roasted malt, umbel hops, water – and our unique Uerige yeast.

Our Uerige Alt regularly ranks amongst the top ten beers of Germany. It has an alcohol content of 4.7% abv and a minimum shelf life of eight weeks.

Bottle from Das Alpenhaus. Poured into alt glass, medium caramel color with high, rocky head. Gentle toasty aroma, nuts, dark caramel, brown bread. Taste follows, deliciously smooth, faint sweetness, nuts, molasses. Sublime. A tasty treat.

Geprobeerd met Roelzie1986. Het is een donkerbruin bier met een medium schuimkraag. Het schuim is wel snel weg. Het heeft een moutige smaak, wat tonen van rozijnen lijkt.

Bottle from getrankmarkt. Shame that the bottle wasnt properly sealed. It fizzed over when moving and so the beer was flat as a pancake so a little unfair. As a flat beer it was actually quite nice, very smooth, very rich like a delicious English ESB. (30/8/17) re-rated from barrel at zum uerige, Dusseldorf. Vegetable aroma. 3.4 to 3.2.

Tap at their pub. Pours very dark, csramelly brown. Decent white head ( extremely stable and fluffy ) smell is full, caramelly, some darker malts , mild ewrthy features. Taste is full, mildly metallic, bit bitter, refreshing hop touch, mild caramelly, malty base. Very low carbo, as it is served from a wooden barrel, which makes it very easy to drink.

Bottle from the LCBO. Hazy dark copper with a one finger thick lingering head. Nose is roasted malt, caramel, bread, some light dark fruit and a touch of nuttiness, and strong grassy hops. Light sweet molasses under a medium grassy bitterness and a light tartness. Mouth is medium and slick with average carbonation and a dry finish. 7/4-/6+/4-/15
