0,5 l bottle from bierpost, best before 1/2015, highly anticipated. Very hazy, dark reddish brown with a fluffy, stable, off-white head. There are much more good-looking beers than this. Heavy smokey aroma dominated by beechwood with hints of caramel but no signs of the typical wheat beer aromas. Really like it. The taste is still much dominated by the smoke but some sourish, fruity notes of cherry come through. The finish is just slightly bitter with a subtle metallic note. A slightly alcoholic touch is left, too. Although far away from a normal Dunkelweizen, the taste is very pleasant. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel, medium to full body, soft carbonation. At first, I was a bit disappointed but as the beer warmed up a little, it was just awesome and I highly enjoyed it. Want to drink it again!

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark amber with a medium beige head. Nose brings out lovely smoke notes in only the manner that Aecht Schlenkerla is known for. Flavour brings out the classic smoke notes that dominate the palate, with dry bready malt underneath. Would never guess this was a weizen underneath. Very nice stuff, though not my favourite of the main Aecht beers.

Bottle at Stuu666’s. Pours clear golden brown with a thin off-white head. Aromas of banana, light smoke. Taste is meaty, light spice, ham. Rich, creamy texture, medium body. Smoky linger.

Bottle at home. Pours pale ruby, nose is delicious smoke and peat, banana, taste is dry, light smoke, meaty, sweet.

Wiederholungstest: Flasche vom Markgrafen-Getränkemarkt in Bamberg, MHD: 1/2015. - Tiefdunkles Kupferrot, trüb (nach Aufrühren der Hefe vom Flaschenboden). - In der Nase das typische Schlenkerla-Raucharoma (Schwarzwälder Schinken, Geräuchertes), dunkelmalzige Karamelsüße und eine leicht bananige Note. - Im Antrunk gehört der erste Augenblick dem Rauchmalz, das aber sogleich von unerwartet herber Säuerlichkeit mit beinahe schroffen zitronigen Zügen verdrängt wird. Dazu eine schwache Kräuternote (Basilikum?), ein Restchen Karamelsüße und ein Hauch von fauliger Banane. Gut rezent, erfrischend. Im Abgang ein wenig Rauch, ein wenig Hopfenherbe und immer noch pointierte Säuerlichkeit. - Beim zweiten Anlauf finde ich diese Kombination von Rauch, Banane und Säure zwar nicht mehr beinahe ungenießbar wie beim ersten Mal, aber immer noch äußerst gewöhnungsbedürftig. Vor allem die deutliche Säure ist für ein deutsches Weizenbier ganz ungewöhnlich. Aber man gewöhnt sich daran ...

Flaska@Akkurat. Brun grumlad vätska med högt skum. Fantastisk rökig doft, nästan som att köra ner näsan bland taljor och block i en gammal galeon. Smakar lätt av tjärpastill och sedan kommer touch av skumbanan och lätt pepprighet.

The third Aecht Schlenkerla Rauchbier is top-fermented, with the creamy pale beige head and cloudy mahogany colour of a Dunkelweizen but the typical aroma and taste of smoked herrings, smoldering ashes of wood and charcoal of a true Rauchbier - a "Rauchweizen", if this is to be assigned to any style at all. Interesting because the chocolatey malt sweetness and even the banana aromas of a typical Dunkelweizen show through. I do prefer the two others over this one, though.

Bottle from Secret Santa 2014. Medium carbonation. Dark nut brown colour, creamy beige foam. Aroma of light roasted malts, light notes of citrus. Smoky taste. Refreshing and well balanced. Good beer.
